Arguably the stand-out game of Magic Weekend sees champions Wigan Warriors take on a Warrington Wolves side who slipped off the play-off pace in April. Sam Burgess's side beat St Helens last weekend, having lost their previous two games, and now face an in-form Warriors side who have won their last four.

Read on for my Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of Sunday's clash (15:15, Sky Sports Action).

Team News

Warrington make three changes but have big problems in the halves. With captain George Williams already sidelined with an ankle injury, now Marc Sneyd has been ruled out too, with a fractured eye socket.

With next weekend's Challenge Cup semi-final against Leigh looming large too, this could well end up being a patched-up Wolves line-up at Magic.

Hooker Danny Walker stepped into the halves against Saints last week but has a knee injury - though he is still named in an initial 21-man squad.

Star winger Matty Ashton misses out, so young winger Jake Thewlis has been recalled from his loan spell at Salford. Toby King also misses out, having only just returned to the side, so another youngster, Arron Lindop, is back.

Oli Leyland is included to replace Sneyd, although other options in the halves include the versatile experienced pair Stefan Ratchford and Ben Currie. Teenager Ewan Irwin is an option too, having come off the bench to make his senior debut last week.

Rugby League Odds

No such problems for Wigan, who are also out of the Challenge Cup, so don't have to worry about that next weekend either.

Forwards Patrick Mago and Ethan Havard miss out, but it is otherwise a strong side, so much so that boss Matty Peet was able to lend three of his young players to Oldham on dual registration for the Roughyeds Championship game this weekend at Doncaster.

The only change sees Jacob Douglas drop out to accommodate the returning Tyler Dupree, after the prop missed last weekend through concussion protocols. Douglas is one of the three who will play instead for Oldham.

Adam Keighran and Luke Thompson have both been passed fit after making their return in last weekend's win at Hull.

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves Odds

Wigan are 1/7 to win on Sunday, while a victory for Warrington is 5/1, implying a 16.7% chance, with the draw at 20/1.

Handicap 3-way Alternative 2: Wigan Warriors -22 @ 9/5

Wigan against Warrington is usually a blood and thunder contest decided by fine margins - although anyone who watched the meeting between the pair in Las Vegas this year will know that the Warriors will run away with it given half a sign of weakness.

I actually think this will be another comfortable Wigan win, given Warrington's injury list and next weekend's Challenge Cup semi-final.

Any team would struggle without either George Williams or Marc Sneyd in the halves, and if you take both of them out of this Warrington team, then I am left feeling that Sam Burgess is fighting a losing battle.

Wigan beat Warrington 48-24 in Vegas, and that scoreline really flattered the Wolves, who fought back to make it far more respectable than the absolute drubbing that it really was. The three meetings last season saw Wigan and Wire both pick up a win apiece in Super League, with Wigan winning the Challenge Cup Final 18-8.

I'm very confident that Wigan will win this one at Magic, and the handicap is interesting at 16 points. That would usually feel far too big in a game between two huge rivals like this, but I actually think Wigan will win by more than 16. It could even get ugly, and I'm going for a victory margin of over 22 points.

Jai Field anytime tryscorer @ 4/6

We could just repeat what we wrote here last week when Jai Field once again obliged with an anytime try at 10/11 at Hull FC - he just has not let us down all season and feels as close to a certainty to score in this Wigan team as you could have.

The signs were there very early this year that Field looked in great shape after injury, and his purple patch shows no signs of ending.

A loyal returner on our anytime tryscorer bets this season, Field now has six tries in his last four games ahead of Magic Weekend.

The prospect of Wigan beating Warrington this weekend but Field not scoring - unless he is injured - just feels unthinkable.
