Wakefield Trinity vs Wigan Warriors Odds
Wakefield Trinity are 6/4 underdogs, implying a 40% probability of success, with favourites Wigan Warriors 4/7, or a 63.6% chance, and the draw priced at 16/1.
Team News
Wakefield had England winger Tom Johnstone back in the squad for that thrilling late win over Rovers last week, and boss Darryl Powell makes three changes for the visit of Wigan.
Jazz Tevaga is banned, and injury rules out match-winner Mason Lino and centre Corey Hall. Will Tate missed out last week to accommodate Johstone's return but is back in the squad, as is full-back Max Jowitt in a timely boost. Charlie Abraham also comes in.
Wigan are strengthened by the returns of star man Bevan French and half-back Harry Smith after both missed the win over Catalans in Paris. There will be a key decision to make in the halves therefore, with youngster Jack Farrimond shining in their absence and winning the Lance Todd Trophy as Man of the Match at the Betfred Challenge Cup Final.
The two to drop out of the 21-man squad to make room for French and Smith are youngsters Tom Forber and Nathan Lowe.
Forward Sam Walters serves the second of his seven-match ban following his red card at Wembley.
Wigan Warriors 1-12 points @ 11/5
We had a really good return backing both of these sides last week as Trinity justified our 12/5 tip on a 1-12 points win over Hull KR thanks to Lino's late try, and the in-form Oli Pratt crossed for his 6/5 anytime try in that game. For Wigan Adam Keighran also crossed for his 7/4 anytime try in the Warriors' predicted victory over Catalans in Paris.
I just couldn’t help shake the feeling that Trinity would produce a big performance after a fortnight off and they may have left it late but got the victory that I felt they deserved. So this game could well be a cracker that feels so finely poised it is almost impossible to call.
The handicap with Betfred gives Wakefield a six-point start which I feel is perhaps on the generous side. However the respective team news does make me feel that the momentum could well end up being with the away team in this battle of two form sides.
Trinity will miss Lino and indeed Hall, while Wigan are obviously hugely lifted by the returns of French and Smith. That half-back battle is where Wigan can dampen Trinity's fire but I again expect this to be fierce and close in front of another raucous crowd.
These games at Wakefield are usually tight. The Challenge Cup quarter-final brought a 26-22 Wigan win en route to Wembley glory. The last Super League game here saw Wakefield win 16-10 last June, and there was an even closer 27-26 golden point win in the meeting at Bellevue in 2023.
So there could be value in looking at the 1-12 point winning margins for either side - a Wigan win would return at 21/10, while if Wakefield can win by 1-12 for the second week in a row then that is an 11/4 chance.
I am just about siding with Wigan in this one. A large part of that is team-news related, with the rest of my mind made up by the trusty gut instinct.

Jai Field Anytime Tryscorer @ 1/1
My reliable picks in the anytime market for both Wakefield and Wigan are both returning well right now, with last week's selections of Adam Keighran and Oli Pratt both landing and both centres are worth a look again this week.
England hopeful Pratt now has seven tries in his last six games after last week's 6/5 score against the champions, while Keighran is ticking along nicely for the Warriors too.
So too is Wigan's superstar full-back Jai Field. Just 1/1 to cross in this fixture but it is a game he really likes. The Aussie has scored at least one try in each of Wigan's last four games against Wakefield. There is something about this game he seems to like and I am on Field again to continue that remarkable run.
