Tigers vs Raiders Prediction: Canberra can pull off a successful raid

West Tigers are up to third in the NRL, but they face one of their bogey teams in Canberra Raiders and may struggle to improve their position this Thursday (10:50 BST, Watch NRL).
Below are my Wests Tigers and Canberra Raiders predictions, as well as the essential team news and match odds for this clash at the Leichhardt Oval in Sydney.
Tigers vs Raiders Betting Tips
*odds correct at time of publishing
Canberra Raiders have won 14 of their last 16 meetings with the Tigers and they are 17/10 to extend their dominance over the Sydney side. Wests are warm favourites at 8/15 to experience some rare joy against the capital crew.
The points line has been set at 48.5 but only two of the last 12 match ups have gone beyond that mark.
Team News
Heamasi Makasini will miss Thursday's clash for the Tigers after suffering a foot injury in last week's tight loss to Brisbane. Starford To'a is set for his first NRL appearance of the season on the wing, while Luke Laulilii also comes into the side in the centres. Jeral Skelton and Tony Sukkar miss out.
Canberra have been dealt a huge blow as Simi Sasagi has been ruled out with a hamstring strain. Savelio Tamale replaces him in the centres in a straight swap, and Owen Pattie has been added to the bench.
Joe Roddy is set to replace veteran forward Josh Papalii after the Samoan star was struck down with a calf injury. Hudson Young is suspended and Jake Clydsdale has dropped out of the squad
Raiders @ 17/10
A three-match winning streak lifted Wests Tigers to third on the NRL ladder, but that run was snapped by a 21-20 loss to Brisbane last week, and they may struggle to bounce back against their great bogey team.
Canberra have dominated this fixture over the years, winning 14 of the last 16 meetings and they can extend that sequence this week as they look to make it three wins on the bounce, and they won't be concerned by a trip to this venue either.
The Leichardt Oval has been a happy hunting ground for the capital side, who have won on four of their last five visits to the venue, including each of the last three.
That run stretches back to 2010 and head coach Ricky Stuart has also enjoyed his time at the iconic arena, winning on six of seven outings there as a Raiders player and coach. There is a strong possibility that sequence is extended on Thursday and Canberra look a great bet.

Under 48.5 points @ 5/6
Canberra have been scoring points for fun this season but they will be keen to secure the win this week and that may lead to a more conservative affair at the Leichardt Oval, where going under 48.5 points looks a decent bet.
Only two of the last 12 meetings have gone beyond that mark, with last season's clashes both ending up in victories for the Raiders, but with a total of just 34 and 28 points scored.
