Tigers vs panthers

The runaway NRL Premiership leaders go looking for a seventh straight win on Sunday when the Penrith Panthers face the Wests Tigers at CommBank Stadium (2pm local, 5am BST, Watch NRL).

The Tigers got back to winning ways against the unpredictable Bulldogs last week, but Penrith are a truly different prospect given their 11-1 record thus far. My Tigers vs Panthers predictions follow with team news from both camps and Betfred’s match odds.

Tigers vs Panthers Betting Tips

  • Panthers by 1-12 @ 23/10
  • Nathan Cleary Anytime Tryscorer @ 7/4

Tigers vs Panthers Odds

The bookies are well on the side of Penrith for this one, with Betfred slating the league leaders at 1/4. The stumbling Tigers are 10/3 for the win, and the draw in normal time is 18/1.

Team News

The Tigers are without concussion victim Sione Fainu, so in comes Mavrik Geyer in the second row.

Alex Twal is missing with a knee issue, and his place at loose forward is taken by Charlie Murray. Heamasi Makasani has overcome a shoulder problem to be named in the three-quarters.

Rugby League Odds

Ivan Cleary’s lineup is bolstered by the returns of Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Brian To’o in Origin week.

Izack Tago, Liam Henry and Jack Cogger will all be involved as interchanges having started last time out, while Jack Cole is included on the bench.

Paul Alamoti shifts inside to centre so that To’o can take up his usual position on the wing.

Panthers by 1-12 @ 23/10

Looking at the table alone could lead one to instantly throw their full weight behind a hefty Panthers win.

But four of the six victories in their current untouchable run have come within the 1-12 margin barrier.

Whereas they were blowing teams away in the early weeks of 2026, they are now doing the professional thing of seeing opponents off in good times and bad.

So a Wests side which won last week might well have some of the game in their favour eight days on, and for that reason I say the Panthers get over the line with minimal to spare at a tasty 23/10.

Nathan Cleary Anytime Tryscorer @ 7/4

There are tempting names to be backed high up the Anytime Tryscorer market, not least Thomas Jenkins (18 tries in 12) and Dylan Edwards (nine in 12).

But for a touch more value, I’m looking at star scrum-half Nathan Cleary for a try at any time given his return of four in 11 and odds of 7/4.
