Struggling Castleford and derby rivals Wakefield bring the Easter Weekend to a close when they meet on Sunday afternoon at the OneBore Stadium, with both teams coming into the clash off the back of wins. (Kick-off 15:00)

The Tigers grabbed a much-needed victory as they ran in seven tries to dismiss Bradford last week, while Trinity sit 5th after winning every game in March. Read on for my Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity predictions.

Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity Odds

Team News

Castleford boss Ryan Carr is without winger Semi Valemei who failed a head injury assessment last week and his place is taken by on-loan Warrington flyer Jake Thewlis.

Mikaele Ravalawa missed out last week with a leg issue but is named in the squad, while four other key names return. Alex Mellor, Jack Ashworth, Joe Stimson and hooker Liam Hood are all back in contention. The men to drop out are Valemei, Ash Golding, Jimmy Beckett and Jenson Windley. Beckett has gone out on loan to Goole Vikings in the Championship.

Wakefield are in fine form and head coach Daryl Powell makes just one change to the squad who won at York. Influential half-back Mason Lino is finally fit to return and takes the place of outside back Jayden Myers.

That represents something of a headache for Powell given how well Jack Sinfield has done in Lino's absence. Two-try Oliver Pratt should continue on the wing, with England man Tom Johnstone on the other. Johnstone needs just two tries to hit 150 for his career.

Handicap 3-Way Wakefield Trinity -6 @ 11/10

These are usually fiery derbies between Cas and Wakefield and last year threw up three crackers. Cas won the most recent meeting 26-22 at the Jungle, with the other two results going either way, so don't expect this one to be a blowout.

Wakefield have the form having completed a perfect March in league and Cup, but the Tigers' win over Bradford did at least stop the rot heading into the derby. And in front of a home crowd that is always a valuable derby leveller.

The handicap is just 6 points as a start for Castleford which is a decent representation that this game feels like a flip of a coin.

I have to side with the stronger and more consistent outfit however, and Wakefield have shown with wins against York, Leigh, Leeds and Hull FC in the last month that they are a very dangerous team to play against.

I expect a fired up Castleford in front of their home crowd, but I have Trinity to win and to beat the handicap.

Darnell McIntosh anytime tryscorer @ 7/4

There are some great options in the anytime market this week for both sides, with in-form Jason Qareqare the man to look out for in a Castleford shirt. The flying winger helped himself to a hat-trick against Bradford last week and is 1/1 to grab another in this one, while Darnell McIntosh is a juicy 7/4 after scoring a double last week. Thewlis is 6/4 to score which also feels like a really nice shout.
For Wakefield, last week's tip Oliver Pratt obliged our followers with a two-try showing and is 10/11 to cross again.  Pratt or Johnstone (4/5) would be my Trinity steer.
