Daly cherry-evans 2023

The margin of victory is unlikely to be enough to rescue the Manly Sea Eagles’ miniscule play-off hopes. Instead, a farewell win for club legend Daly Cherry-Evans is the main focus when they face the New Zealand Warriors at Brookvale Oval on Friday (18:00 local, 09:00 BST).

DCE is heading for the Sydney Roosters in 2026 after 18 years in the Manly system, and Brookvale is ready to give him the perfect send-off. Read on for my Sea Eagles vs Warriors predictions, alongside the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Sea Eagles vs Warriors Odds

The Warriors might be the side destined for the finals, but Manly are the ones going into this clash with favouritism.

Anthony Seibold’s men are 4/7 for the win in 80 minutes, as opposed to the Warriors’ 6/4.

A dose of golden-point extra-time can be backed at 18/1, while on the handicap market the Sea Eagles are against a 6.5-point start.

With the advantage, the Warriors are a 5/6 bet with Manly at 10/11.

Team News

Manly welcome Clayton Faulalo into the first 13 at centre in the absence of knee-injury victim Tolutau Koula. The big news, though, for most Sea Eagles fans is the inclusion of Joey Walsh on the bench for his potential NRL debut.

Toafofoa Sipley is banned for four matches, so Seibold will need to make a late call on who comes into the final interchange slot.

Warriors coach Andrew Webster makes one change. Wayde Egan misses out with a hip complaint, so in comes Sam Healey.

The visitors have an outside shot of making the top four but need other results to go their way, so Webster’s main concern will be getting his troops through this fixture safely ahead of next week’s first finals match.

Rugby League Odds

Sea Eagles by 13+ @ 7/4

Let’s face it, the top eight is gone for Manly. But there’s not much to rival a night at Brookie, and the opportunity to say goodbye to DCE with a victory is a one-time-only thing.

They also have the form, whatever you make of the eight-point difference between these sides on the ladder. Manly have a 7-4 record at home this season, with the Warriors having posted an identical return away from their patch.

But there’s bound to be a bit of hesitancy about the Wahs ahead of next week, while the Sea Eagles have nothing to worry about except sending off their skipper in the best way possible.

And with two huge wins behind them in the last couple of weeks, scoring a remarkable 98 points along the way, this Manly side looks ready for an extremely positive end to the campaign.

Sea Eagles to win both halves @ 9/5

There’s very much a Brookvale factor weighing into the thinking here, but the home side should get on top and stay on top.

The Warriors know after the Broncos' big win on Thursday that a victory isn't worth anything to them in terms of the extra hurdle in the finals, so they are looking at fifth or sixth. And that means that this game becomes a tune-up and little more.

So expect this one to be claimed early by Manly, with a few extra scores being added on for decoration in the second stanza. And with DCE leading the way this could be a picture-book evening by the Northern Beaches.

The 9/5 price gives an implied probability of 35.7% but I think that's on the low side.
