Salford Red Devils vs Warrington Wolves Odds
Unsurprisingly, Warrington are long odds-on to get the job done in Salford on Friday night. They're 1/1000 at Betfred, while the Red Devils are available at 22/1. The draw is a 28/1 shot.
Jake and Josh Thewlis head the tryscorer markets alongside teammate Matt Duffy - at 6/1 to score first and 1/3 anytime.
Team News
Salford boss Paul Rowley has on-loan hooker Cain Robb available after concussion, with the player having been expected to return to Castleford.
Influential forward Joe Shorrocks is back from suspension, but winger Jonny Vaughan is injured. A strange set of agreements around loan eligibility means that Dan Russell can play for Salford against his parent club, but Tom Whitehead cannot - so he is left out.
Salford captain Ryan Brierley was the subject of an interesting story this week, with his club apparently rejecting an approach from a Championship club for his services. I'm told the player himself was ready and keen to make the move - which underlines what a nightmare it has been for these Salford players after the ill-fated takeover this year.
Warrington boss Sam Burgess names an unchanged squad from that confidence-boosting win over Hull FC. Centre Rodrick Tai suffered an injury in that game so whether or not he makes the matchday squad remains to be seen.
Joe Philbin and Toby King didn't feature last week so should be closer to a return this week. While Sam Stone is set to return to Salford after controversially refusing to play for the Red Devils last month to force his move to Warrington. His reception will be interesting to hear.
Warrington -42 @ 6/4
These Salford games this season are not hard to predict in terms of a match outcome, it is merely about working out how many points the opposition is likely to score.
I've never known anything like this, in an elite league like the Betfred Super League, where we are basically watching one of the clubs drown in front of our eyes. But such has been the financial dire straits that the Red Devils have found themselves in since a takeover that has seen no money actually brought into the club yet, that Salford are doing well just to field a team every week.
So a 38-point start for Warrington this week is pretty much bang on. Salford do have the capacity to start games with spirit at home and if they do that then there's half a chance of keeping this one below the handicap, but given what I watched from a comparatively strong-looking Salford line-up at Saints last week when they shipped 58 points and scored none, then this could be ugly.
Let's look at the last two home games - 6-38 against Hull FC and 4-46 against Saints in June.
I think Warrington have the quality to put on 40 or 50 here, so am going slightly above the handicap for a bit more value.

Connor Wrench - Anytime Tryscorer @ 8/11
Take your pick from the Warrington team to find a winner with value in the try scorer market. The Thewlis twins are both likely to score but are long odds at 1/3. Centres Rodrick Tai and Toby King are better value 4/6 choices but both are injury doubts.
So I think the shrewder picks are probably around the 8/11 mark in captain George Williams and Connor Wrench.
