Team News

The Maroons have made some big changes from the 18-6 defeat in Game 1, with captain Daly Cherry-Evans dropped and Tom Dearden called in to fill his place at halfback.

Queensland, therefore, go with Dearden, Cameron Munster, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Valentine Holmes, Robert Toia, Xavier Coastes and Kalyn Ponga in the back division.

In the pack, Maroons head coach Billy Slater has gone with Trent Loiero, Kurt Capewell, Reuben Cotter, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Harry Grant and Moeaki Fotuaika.

As for the Blues, head coach Laurie Daley has gone with a backline of Nathan Cleary, Jarome Luai, Zac Lomax, Latrell Mitchell, Stephen Crichton, Brian To’o and Dylan Edwards.

In the forward, New South Wales supporters will cheer on Isaah Yep, Angus Crichton, Liam Martin, Payne Haas, Reece Robson and Max King in the starting lineup.

Queensland vs New South Wales Odds

New South Wales are the 2/5 favourites to claim the series-winning victory in Perth on Wednesday, while Queensland are 2/1 to secure the win to set up a decider in Sydney on July 9th.

A draw is available at 20/1, while under 40.5 total points in the game is currently 10/11.

New South Wales -8 handicap @ 21/20

Coming away from the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane with a victory in Game 1 was a statement performance from New South Wales and was further evidence that perhaps there is a real power shift in the State of Origin series from times past.

Queensland don’t have good memories of matches on neutral turf in Perth, losing their previous two games against the Blues in Western Australia.

Slater has tried to shake things up with selection but that could speak to desperation in the Maroons camp.

Expect the familiar duo of Cleary and Luai to pull the strings in the halfbacks for the Blues, who are well priced to win and cover the handicap in this one.

Zac Lomax first tryscorer @ 6/1

The star of the show in Game 1 with a brace of tries in Brisbane, Blues winger Zac Lomax is a player to consider in the first tryscorer market.

Scoring the opening two tries at Suncorp Stadium last time out, Lomax added to his growing collection of NSW tries, having scored in the first two Origin games of the 2024 series.

With the Blues looking to hit the ground running again on Wednesday, Parramatta Eels winger Lomax to bag the opening try catches the eye at 6/1.
