Huddersfield giants 2025

Warrington's season is just about still alive after last week's thrilling win over Catalans, but their very faint play-off hopes rely on winning every remaining game including this one against the lacklustre Giants in Huddersfield. (Kick-off 15:00 BST)

In truth both of these sides could do with the season ending now, with Warrington massively underachieving again and Huddersfield having a horrible year.

Team News

Huddersfield are without the suspended Taane Milne after his needless show of dissent.

The big inclusion is Oliver Russell who arrives on loan from Wakefield, and he is likely to replace the unfortunate Matt Frawley whose latest injury could well end his time in Super League.

Elliot Wallis is also left out of the 21-man squad

Youngsters Logan Blacker and Marshall Land are both called up by head coach Luke Robinson and Aiden McGowan is recalled from his loan at Batley Bulldogs.

Warrington boss Sam Burgess flexed his muscles last week by dropping star full-back Matt Dufty and centre Toby King to the reserves. Both though are back this week, but a groin injury rules out the York-bound prop Paul Vaughan.

Youngster Zack Gardner has a hamstring injury so misses out, but prop James Harrison is available once more.

Handicap 3-way Huddersfield Giants +12 @ 20/21

Warrington have to win this game and I feel that will probably be enough to ensure they do so. But the Wolves are so infuriating and inconsistent that I am struggling to muster the confidence to back the Wolves with a 12-point handicap.

I thought they were incredibly fortunate to beat Catalans Dragons at home last week. Credit the Wolves for their comeback, but for me the game swung on the injury suffered by Catalans winger Tommy Makinson when scoring his hat-trick try just half an hour into the game. The Dragons were running hot and everything changed on that moment. Warrington really should not be being dictated to at home by teams like Catalans.

It is that kind of apologetic first-half performance that makes me unwilling to back Warrington this week with much bluster.

Yes, I think they will probably win this game and just about keep their top-six hopes alive, but with a 12-point start I am going to go with Huddersfield on the handicap. Remember the Giants have already beaten Warrington once this year.

George Williams anytime try @ 5/4

Plenty of options in the try scorer market again this week, with the Thewlis brothers Jake and Josh both 4/5 to cross in 80 minutes.

Matt Dufty is always dangerous at 10/11 while I like George WIlliams at 5/4 - the skipper has come up with some important tries for his team this year.

For the Giants I would be looking at either Jacob Gagai at 5/4 or the 7/4 livewire George Flanagan.

For me though - if in doubt I go George Williams. Still the man for the big moment.
