Eels titans

The Parramatta Eels and Gold Coast Titans face off on Sunday (14:00 local, 05:00 BST, Watch NRL) with both teams on the outside looking in over the early part of the NRL Premiership season.

The two sides have three wins between them in the opening five rounds, and neither are currently tipped to bother the Finals picture. But Sunday’s winners will at least have a bigger claim, and my Eels vs Titans predictions follow with full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Eels vs Titans Odds

Parramatta have the bookies’ favour for this clash, with Betfred pricing the Eels at 8/11 for a win on Sunday.

The Titans can be backed at 5/4 to collect a second victory of the 2026 campaign, and it’s 16/1 for the game to go to golden-point extra-time.

All three wins recorded between these two clubs (Eels two, Titans one) have fallen within the 1-12 margin. It’s 9/4 for Parra to triumph within that same range and 11/4 for the Titans to do so.

Team News

Jason Ryles will be forced into a few changes, with Bailey Simonsson’s ankle injury among their concerns coming into this one.

Sean Russell is out due to concussion protocols, with Jonah Pezet unavailable due to a tight hamstring and Apa Twidle having picked up a knee problem.

Will Penisini comes in at centre after recovering from a groin strain, Araz Nanva has been included on the wing, and Ronald Volkman steps up at six for his first senior appearance in over a year.

Rugby League Odds

There’s far less to report on Gold Coast, with Josh Hannay sticking largely with the group that was beaten 26-12 by the Broncos at Cbus over Easter.

Max Feagai is the one anticipated change, as he drops out in favour of Jaylan de Groot as part of the six-player substitutes bench.

Eels by 6-10 @ 5/1

These two are in the kind of form that would have you backing neither if they weren’t coming up against each other.

The Titans have only beaten the winless Dragons, while the Eels also beat St George and have just that stunning 40-32 win over the reigning-champion Broncos to boast otherwise.

But that stand-out result in Round 2 was a month ago now, and a 48-20 reverse to the league-leading Panthers was followed by a narrow loss to the Tigers last up.

Still, they’re the side I trust most out of these two when it comes to the eye test, with the Titans having been well beaten too often thanks to a real lack of an edge with the ball in hand.

So I like the Eels by a couple of scores, and while the 1-12 margin would give a decent 9/4 price, I think we can narrow it down for the sake of even better value with the 6-10 bracket returning 5/1.

Titans Under 23.5 Total Points @ 20/21

If there’s one thing that convinces me that this one is the Eels’ to lose, it is the Titans’ relative toothlessness in attack.

Parra have the NRL’s worst defence, having conceded 174 points in five games, but the Titans’ 74 scored betters only the basement-boy Dragons. And that is including a handful of teams who have played a game less.

Hannay just hasn’t got his side firing, and it is through their spine that Gold Coast too often look short on serious quality.

That ought to be the case again here, so I am more than confident that they’ll come in short of four converted scores. The 20/21 price very much appeals for a team who haven’t cleared this barrier in any of their five games yet this season.
