Dolphins vs Gold Coast Titans Prediction: Fins to win, and it won’t be a tight ‘un

Someone has to get off the schneid on Sunday when Round 2 of the NRL Premiership season comes to a close with a clash between the Dolphins and the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium (17:15 local, 07:15 GMT, Sky Sports Action).
The Dolphins lost in a 70-point barnburner against the Rabbitohs on the opening weekend, while the Titans were battered by the Sharks, so that will play into my Dolphins vs Gold Coast Titans predictions. They can be found below with the latest full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Dolphins vs Gold Coast Titans Odds
The Fins are huge favourites for the win here, with Betfred pricing them up at 2/5 for the two competition points.
The Titans can be backed at 21/10, while a draw in normal time is an 18/1 bet.
Josh Hannay’s visitors get a 9.5-point start on the two-way handicap, and their odds are trimmed to 20/21 in that scenario. The Dolphins are 5/6 to beat the handicap.
Team News
Max Plath could make his long-awaited return from ACL damage after being named on the Dolphins’ bench by head coach Kristian Woolf. He has been missing since June 2025 with the knee injury.
Ray Stone is also back among the interchanges having had surgery on his shoulder during the off-season. Brent Woolf makes way.
The big news for the Titans is that Sam Verrills makes the squad despite suffering a sternum injury in the big loss to Cronulla.
That means there are no changes at all for Hannay, who sticks with the same 19 despite the 40-point spanking last week.
Dolphins by 13+ @ 11/10
Yes, the Dolphins shipped 40 points against the Bunnies. But there’s no Campbell Graham or Latrell Mitchell to go up against this week. Nor is there an NRL record try scorer in Alex Johnston.
The Fins are historically a high-scoring side, with last week’s game marking the 12th time in 21 matches that they’ve cleared the 30-point mark.
So while the Fins should be backed to go big again, there will certainly have been a focus on defence in training since that 40-30 defeat.
I just don’t see this being particularly close, so the three-score difference at 11/10 is favourable to the punter, with its 47.6% implied probability definitely on the low side.

Titans Under 19.5 Points @ 6/4
Combining the end of last season with the start of 2026, the Dolphins have shipped 24-plus points in each of their last six games. But this is where it ends, for me.
The Titans should once more be one of the lower-performing clubs in the comp in 2026, and if the home side get ahead early I don’t particularly see the fight required in the Gold Coast team to ask too many questions of the Dolphins defence.
So the 6/4 about the Titans coming in under 20 points is real value, for my mind.
