After a shock defeat - their first in nine games - to Wakefield last week, Wigan visit Castleford, who were thumped by league leaders Hull KR in the last round, on Saturday night (20:00, live on Sky Sports +).

Is this the chance for a famous win at the Jungle? Here's my Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors predictions.

Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors Predictions

  • Jai Field - Anytime Tryscorer @ 4/6

Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors Odds

Betfred Super League champions Wigan are heavy favourites at 1/12 to get both points in West Yorkshire. Castleford are 7/1 and the draw is a 22/1 shot.

The Warriors' Jai Field leads the tryscorer betting at 7/1 to score first and 4/6 anytime. The same odds are available about teammate Liam Marshall, while Innes Senior is the shortest-priced Cas player to feature, at 14/1 and 6/4 respectively.

Team News

Castleford are still without Tex Hoy through injury, although he is nearing his return. Fletcher Rooney is available again after injury while new signing from the NRL Joe Stimson comes straight into the mix.

Those are the only two changes to last week's squad, with Stimson and Rooney replacing Cain Robb - who has been loaned to Salford - and Hugo Salabio.

Wigan are without star man Bevan French again as he drops out through injury after only just having returned to the fold. Interestingly Christian Wade is named in a squad for the first time since his code switch from rugby union.

Star winger Liam Marshall is being monitored as he nurses a minor concern, with Wade standing by alongside youngster Jacob Douglas in case he doesn't make it.

Wigan -20 @ 21/20

Wigan have been way off the pace for the past fortnight which has been a shock to everyone. They were well beaten at bogey team Wakefield and should have lost to Huddersfield the week before but somehow salvaged a dramatic late win.

I'm told things have not been clicking on the training field either so perhaps Castleford could have a go here?

I'm not buying it I'm afraid and I doubt head coach Matt Peet will accept too much more mediocracy either. I think Wigan should respond here and will win this by a few scores - if they can live with the dangerous finishing threat provided by the Seniors for Cas.

The only doubt in my mind is whether Wigan can beat the handicap which feels a little lofty at 20, but I'm going to back the Warriors here knowing that an early score can often spark a rampant display.

Jai Field - Anytime Tryscorer @ 4/6

The odds may be shortening but my tip won't be changing. Very early on in the season we started backing Jai Field as Wigan's go-to man.

I sensed his form was back to its very best and here he is at the top of the Betfred Super League try scoring charts.

A game at the Jungle against the Tigers feels like a great opportunity for the livewire Australian to cut loose once more.
