Jose Mourinho’s Roma are chasing their first Serie A win of the season as they travel to face Hellas Verona at 7:45pm on Saturday. We take a look at the markets that might have value in this contest.
Andrea Belotti spared Roma’s blushes last time out as his second goal of the game salvaged a point at home to Salernitana. The striker’s brace was the highlight of his side’s opening day draw and there is definitely room for improvement ahead of matchday two. As we know, Mourinho likes his sides to be compact so he wouldn’t have been pleased with his side conceding two goals at home and having to rescue a draw.
The Portuguese boss will demand a response from his players at Hellas Verona. It won’t be an easy fixture, however, with the hosts winning 1-0 at Empoli last time out and they will be full of confidence ahead of their first home game of the season.
Both teams to score @ EVS
Hellas Verona and Roma both found the back of the net in their respective opening fixtures and when the two teams met at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi last term, they were both on the scoresheet. Roma prevailed on that occasion winning 3-1, and they will be hoping that they can have another enjoyable evening at this ground on Saturday.
We know this Roma side are susceptible to conceding, but their attack should have enough firepower to be the first team to score past Hellas Verona this year. Expect goals from both teams in this one.
Andrea Belotti to score anytime @ 11/5
Belotti’s brace last week is the reason Roma avoided defeat and a disappointing start to the season. Although his goals were not enough to win the game for his side, the 29-year-old will be feeling confident having gotten off the mark on the opening day.
This will come as a huge boost for the forward, his teammates and his manager because he didn’t score a single league goal last year. So to bag a brace in the first game of the season could set the tone for the year ahead of him.
He will be raring to go at Hellas Verona this weekend as he looks to extend his tally and hopefully help his team attain their first three points of 2023-24.
