Wyndham Championship 2024 Tips: Three names to know for the Top 20 Finish Market

Fresh from dropping his full Wyndham Championship 2024 Tips column earlier today, our golf tipster Jamie Worsley has opened up a new word document and put together his thoughts for some special prop bets for the PGA Tour event this week.
He's picked out three players who are worth backing in the Top 20 market over in the US...
Wyndham Championship 2024 Betting Tips
The weather forecast for the tomorrow's opening round of the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina is a chaotic one and difficult to judge. Therefore, I'm going to avoid the first-round leader market.
Instead, my focus will be on the place markets, more specifically top-20 betting, from which I've extracted three selections for consideration this week.

Kurt Kitayama 23/10 – Top 20 – 2.5 pts
Kurt Kitayama's superb ball-striking but struggles on the greens have made him a frustrating player to follow in the outright betting over recent months. With that, the top-20 market makes much more appeal this week, as he likely won't need to find anything on the greens to hit this part of the leaderboard.
Kitayama has only missed three of his 18 cuts this season, though due to the putter, he's failed to threaten the very top of the leaderboard too often. He does have two top-10s to his name, the first of which came when 8th in the Phoenix Open at the start of the year and most recently, he recorded his best finish of 2024 in the 3M Open on his last start, finishing 6th.
His ball-striking has looked in fine shape all season, ranking 18th off-the-tee and 30th in approach. We can dig a little deeper into that iron play and discover that he ranks 3rd in proximity from 150-175 yards for 2024, a stat that should stand him in good stead around this course.
Kitayama will be making his debut this week but as a 3rd-place finisher at PGA National and possessing a top-20 from this year's PLAYERS Championship, he has some eye-catching comp form that suggests he'll take to Sedgefield CC.
Nick Taylor 18/5 – Top 20 – 2 pts
Nick Taylor has suffered a drop in form since taking the Phoenix Open back in February, largely due to his drop-off on the greens and in approach. Whilst the putter is still failing to fire, he has been hitting his irons much better of late and back at a course where he's twice finished inside the top-10, he looks a good shout for a top-20 this week.
Taylor has made 15 starts since winning at TPC Scottsdale, missing five cuts and recording just four finishes inside the top-30. He did finish strongly in last week's Olympics event, shooting rounds of 68 and 69 over the weekend to finish 30th, and with his iron play a key ingredient there, ranking 11th, he has plenty of positives to carry over into this week.
Approach play has been his biggest strength throughout the season and though his performances with the clubs dipped momentarily, his effort last week wasn't a one-off, as he ranks 8th in this field in approach over his last four starts.
Taylor missed the cut on his first two tries at this course, but finally came good when finishing 8th in 2018. He's since added another top-10 when finishing 10th in 2021 and having finished 7th in the last two editions of the Sony Open, he's a player comfortable on this type of setup.
Matt NeSmith 11/2 – Top 20 – 1.5 pts
South Carolina's Matt NeSmith has turned his season around in a big way over the previous two months and with his iron play now back to the levels we'd expect of him, he can take another positive step towards securing his PGA Tour future this week.
Going into the Charles Schwab Challenge at the end of May, NeSmith had missed seven of his 13 cuts and failed to record a single top-25. He put that right in Texas, finishing 24th and though again going missing over his next three starts, he has responded well in the last three; finishing 2nd in the ISCO Championship three starts ago and following a missed cut in the Barracuda Championship, he bounced back with a 9th-place finish in the 3M Open.
He's hit his irons well and shown quality with the putter across each of those two top-10s, ranking 1st in putting and 4th in approach in the ISCO Championship, whilst he was 9th tee-to-green and 34th in putting in the 3M Open. Now finding plenty of fairways, he has all of the relevant areas of his game clicking to handle this test.
NeSmith first played here when still a teenager and amateur in 2012, missing the cut. He has since made three of his four cuts at Sedgefield in the pro ranks, possessing a best of 36th in 2022. With a multitude of commendable performances at comp courses to his name, including 2nd and 8th-place finishes in the Shriners Open and a 12th in the RBC Heritage, he has what it takes to go even better here, and he can make his way into the top-20 for the first time this week.
