Soudal Open Odds

The Soudal Open begins tomorrow, and with some blustery conditions on the way, there’s one side of the draw that looks likely to fare best in the opening round at Rinkven International.

The conditions are forecast to be reasonably cool and bright in the opening round, with no threat of any rain. Morning starters will begin amidst a gentle 7mph breeze, but with intermittent gusts at close to 19mph. This theme will continue throughout the day with ever-rising speeds, resulting in a greater challenge in the afternoon, when we’ll see gusts as high as 30mph, and consistent 17mph winds.

That should hand the advantage to those out earliest, and I’ll be solely concentrating on the morning tee times in this week’s first-round leader market.

0.75 pts Guido Migliozzi each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 60/1

Start time: 08:20

First up is former Rinkven winner, Guido Migliozzi. He looked to have found some form in Turkey last time out—achieving a result that was engineered by a fast start—and possessing many low rounds at this week’s course, this sometimes explosive player can hit the top of the leaderboard on Thursday.

Migliozzi began the year well with an 8th-place finish in the Dubai Desert Classic, but failed to build on that, missing five of his next six cuts. He stopped the rot in the Turkish Airlines Open, finishing 17th and having looked solid with his short game for much of the season, it was promising to see him gain control of his long game.

He opened with a three-under 68 there, to sit 10th after round one, and he also started strongly in that opening event of the year in the Middle East, shooting a six-under 66 to hit the top four thru 18 holes. His first-round performances have been decent enough overall this year, ranking 20th in this field in 2025.

Migliozzi shot a round of 66 when he won that Belgian Knockout in 2019 and has continued to accumulate positive rounds here. He’s opened with an under-par round in each of the last two editions of the Soudal Open, and recording two further rounds of 66 last year, he’s proven he can score well at the course.

0.75 pts Jayden Schaper each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 60/1

Start time: 07:30

Jayden Schaper is having a great season on the DP World Tour. After showing some promise at Rinkven in 2024, he looks a lively contender to grab the first-round lead this week.

Schaper has made 10 starts this season and recorded six top-25 finishes. His best efforts came when 4th in Kenya and 5th in Qatar, while he bounced back from two straight missed cuts to finish 24th in Turkey on his most recent start.

He’s been especially strong with his irons, ranking 12th in approach and 13th in greens-in-regulation. His first-round performances have also been strong, ranking 11th and he hit the top 10 in the first round in three straight events—the Kenya Open, South African Open and Joburg Open.

Schaper finished 41st on debut here last season, opening with a 68 to sit 27th after round one, and then closed with a 67. He’s in much better form now and can greatly improve on that day one finish this week.

0.5 pts Fabrizio Zanotti each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 90/1

Start time: 08:00

Fabrizio Zanotti has been hitting the ball strongly this season and has finally started to reap the rewards in recent starts. He now arrives at a course where his isn’t disadvantaged by his short, accuracy-dependent game, and with some low rounds to his name at Rinkven, he’s an attractive price to take the lead in round one.

Zanotti hasn’t missed a cut this season, but his best performances have come across his last four starts, finishing 9th in the Singapore and Hainan Classics.

His long game has been firing all season, ranking 16th in driving accuracy, 24th off-the-tee and 33rd in approach. It’s also been encouraging to see him find some faster starts in those two recent top-10 finishes, as he sat inside the top 25 in the opening round in each event.

Zanotti has made the cut in all of his visits here, recording a best of 22nd in 2023. His third-round 65 in 2022 was the best score of that day, and firing further rounds of 66 and 67, there’s enough evidence that he can find that low one tomorrow.

0.5 pts Deon Germishuys each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 125/1

Start time: 08:10

Finally I’m going to take a chance on Deon Germishuys finding something in Thursday’s first round. His form figures aren’t overly impressive, but he is a player at his best on these tighter tree-lined courses, something that he displayed at Rinkven on debut in 2023.

Germishuys has missed six cuts in 11 DPWT starts this season. However, he found some form at the correlating Kenya Open, finishing 3rd and after missing three straight cuts following that, he finished 17th in India at another quirky tree-lined venue.

He’s a straight driver, ranking 21st in driving accuracy and hits plenty of greens, ranking inside the top 50 in greens-in-regulation. The putter has been a concern of late, but I’m hoping he can find improvement in this area on a course at which he ranked 5th in putting in 2023.

Germishuys complemented his putting with an excellent driving performance here two years ago, ranking 9th off-the-tee. He achieved three rounds in the 60s that week, closing with a five-under 66—the third-best round of the day—to finish 15th. I’m hoping he can channel that same energy into tomorrow’s opening round in Belgium.
