It’s the first round of the Cadillac Championship tomorrow, where strong winds look set to make things difficult for the later starters at Doral’s Blue Monster.

Our resident golf tipster Jamie Worsley is here with three picks he fancies to take advantage in his Cadillac Championship 2026 FRL Betting Tips, which you can check out below...

Play gets underway at 8.40am, after which pairings will tee off in 10-15-minute intervals until the final group begins at 2.55pm. The conditions are forecast to be bright and warm throughout, with temperatures hitting 30°C later in the day.

Wind speeds start at a mild 6mph for those earliest tee times, and it will stay that way for much of the morning before steadily rising from midday onwards, reaching highs of 15mph (with gusts up to 23mph) in the late afternoon.

With that, I’m going to focus my attention on players who tee off before midday and have come up with three lively first-round contenders in Florida.

1.25 pts Justin Rose each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 33/1

Start time: 11.00am

After recharging his batteries off the back of another stout effort at Augusta, Justin Rose should be raring to go at Doral. He is of course a former winner here and as a regular fast starter, he stands out in this market.

Rose continues to flourish in this latter stage of his career, winning the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines by a huge seven-shot margin back in February. His form stuttered in the weeks after, but he bounced back at just the right time, following a 13th-place finish at THE PLAYERS Championship with a 3rd at The Masters.

He is gaining strokes through the bag, particularly standing out in approach, ranking 2nd in this field. However, it’s his ability to start quickly that appeals most, ranking 3rd in round-one performance over the last three months, highlighted by a first-round lead at Torrey Pines, while he was 6th after 18 holes at Augusta.

We have to go back 14 years to find Rose’s victory at the Blue Monster, when he fired rounds of 69-64-69-70 to win by one shot. He was a solid 8th in defence of that WGC Cadillac Championship title in 2013 and, still repeatedly showing up on these big, challenging courses, he can take advantage of this morning tee time.

0.75 pts Sungjae Im each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 60/1

Start time: 9.55am

Sungjae Im will make his Doral debut this week, but there’s plenty to suggest he could take to the course. He’s starting to drive the ball to his typically high standard, and with a recent, emphatic first-round lead to his name, I expect him to fly out of the blocks on Thursday.

Missing cuts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship, Sungjae’s return from a wrist injury didn’t get off to the best of starts. He burst into life on his next outing at the Valspar Championship, opening with a brilliant seven-under 64 to lead on day one before eventually finishing 4th.

The Korean hasn’t quite hit those heights since, but he did drive it well at Augusta, ranking 11th in SG: Off-the-Tee. He’s maintained a decent level with the driver following that and is among the top performers in round one across the last six weeks, beginning with a 67 at the Houston Open and a 66 at the RBC Heritage, to sit 11th and 10th, respectively.

Sungjae will tackle this monstrous layout for the very first time this week. That said, as a winner of the Cognizant Classic who has recorded several top-five finishes at each of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Farmers Insurance Open, and Valspar Championship, he has the game to go well.

0.75 pts Jhonattan Vegas each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 90/1

Start time: 8.50am

I’ve put Jhonattan Vegas up twice in this market across his last four outings and he’s threatened to go close each time. It’s yet to pay off, though this strong ball striker is worth another shot from this favourable tee time.

Vegas arrives in Florida with two top-20s in his last five appearances after an initially slow start to the season. The first of these came at the Arnold Palmer Invitational back at the beginning of March, finishing 18th, and he closed out the month with a 14th-place finish at the Houston Open.

Each of those efforts was engineered by first-round quality. He opened with a five-under 67 at Bay Hill to sit 4th on day one and at Memorial Park, a three-under 67 on Thursday was enough to move into 11th position. In addition, he was going strongly at TPC Sawgrass in between those displays, sitting three-under through six holes before coming unstuck at the famous 17th hole.

Vegas did appear at Doral back in 2011 and his performance offers promise, as he shot two rounds of 69 on his way to finishing 31st. He was also 3rd at Torrey Pines – one of many sound results there – that same year, and he can lean on those experiences to make another speedy start tomorrow.
