Our golf tipster Jamie Worsley's busy start to the week here at Betfred Insights ends with his look at the first round of the Myrtle Beach Classic, starting on Thursday over in Texas. You can read Jamie's full in-depth preview and Myrtle Beach Classic 2025 Golf Tips here.

He's hoping to take advantage of a potential draw bias to identify who will sit atop the leaderboard on Thursday at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Check out his Myrtle Beach Classic 2025 FRL Tips below...

Myrtle Beach Classic Odds

After some early cloud cover, conditions are forecast to be bright, clear, and warm throughout the rest of the opening round. Morning starters are expected to face only a gentle breeze of 5–8mph, but as they finish and the afternoon wave begins, winds are scheduled to pick up, with sustained speeds of around 12mph and gusts reaching up to 19mph.

This should hand the advantage to those with early tee times, and that’s where I’ll focus all of my attention this week.

1 pt Chris Gotterup each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 45/1

Start time: 07:23

Defending champion Chris Gotterup has found some consistency of late. Armed with as much knowledge as anyone in the field on how to go low here, he should have every chance of grabbing the first-round lead from his morning tee time.

Gotterup has landed six top-25 finishes this season, four of which have come over his last five starts. His skills from tee-to-green have been the main contributor, ranking 4th in this field across his previous 20 rounds, and he’s been especially strong off-the-tee, ranking 2nd over the same period.

He’s been firing many low rounds, including a 64 and a 66 on his way to a 15th-place finish last week. In addition, he’s had several fast starts, opening with a nine-under 63 to sit 2nd thru 18 holes of the Puerto Rico Open, whilst a 65 saw him sit 5th after round one three starts ago in the Corales Puntacana Championship.

Gotterup destroyed the field in Myrtle Beach by six shots last year, shooting rounds of 66-64-65-67, and I see no reason why he can’t find another low one tomorrow from his early start.

1 pt Alejandro Tosti each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 50/1

Start time: 07:45

Alejandro Tosti is the only one of my outright selections to tee it up in the morning on Thursday. Having found his best round of the week here on day one last year, I’m taking him to again make fast start.

With three top-10 finishes to his name, Tosti has been much improved thus far in 2025. The first of those came when he was 10th in Mexico back in February, but the other two have come in his last five starts, as he finished 2nd in the Corales Puntacana Championship and 5th in the Houston Open.

He’s been one of the strongest tee-to-green players of late, ranking 2nd over his last six starts. Meanwhile, another huge positive in relation to this particular market is his ranking in first-round performance, for which he ranks 20th in this field in 2025. Indeed, he landed a share of the first-round lead in Houston five starts ago, having opened with a five-under 65.

Tosti somewhat capitulated after an excellent first round here last year, as he opened with a six-under 65 to sit 3rd 18 holes. However, that does at least show that he has the ability to go low here and with his game in better shape, I fancy him to get off to another flyer this week.

0.75 pts Trace Crowe each-way (1/4 -5 places) @ 90/1

Start time: 08:07

Trace Crowe shot the second-lowest round of the week here last year, and having shown some positive signs in recent starts, he looks like a lively contender to be amongst the leaders tomorrow.

The South Carolina native lost full playing privileges on the PGA Tour last year, meaning he’s spent much of this season on the Korn Ferry Tour. He’s performing well there, recording four top 20s in six starts, with his best effort coming three starts ago, finishing 8th in the LECOM Suncoast Classic. Meanwhile, his tee-to-green game looked in fine shape two starts ago, when he finished 4th in the Zurich Classic alongside Taylor Dickson.

He attributes a trip to Myrtle Beach as a kid as the starting point of his golfing journey, and his comfort in this part of the U.S was evident in the second round of this event last year, as he shot a nine-under 63—the second-best score of the event.

In good first-round form of late—opening with a six-under 66 in the Club Car Championship to sit 2nd after round one four starts ago—Crowe looks well placed to find a low round on Thursday.
