Brooke Henderson ended a two-year win drought in the best way possible at last week's CPKC Women's Open. The Canadian came alive down the stretch on Sunday, birdying three of her last six holes to edge out Minjee Lee by a stroke, claiming a 14th LPGA title and second victory in her national open in the process.
Henderson is back in action this week among another strong field on the LPGA, as we head to TPC Boston for the second edition of the FM Championship.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The FM Championship debuted on the LPGA in 2024 and takes place at TPC Boston.
An all-Korean playoff saw Haeran Ryu get the better of Jin Young Ko for her second LPGA victory in last year's inaugural edition. She returns to defend this week as a three-time winner, having won the Black Desert Championship back in May.
THE COURSE
TPC Boston was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened for play in 2002. It has been tweaked regularly by Gil Hanse since 2007, often preparing the venue to host events on the PGA Tour – it staged the Dell Technologies Championship from 2003 to 2018 and The Northern Trust in 2020.
As a par 72 measuring 6598yds, the course will play to the same par and yardage as last year. It possesses 4x par 3s (144-184yds), 10x par 4s (298-419yds) and 4x par 5s (493-579yds).
TPC Boston is tree-lined yet spacious and after beginning on flatter terrain on the front nine, it gets hillier coming home. It features moderate elevation changes and water hazards/wetlands are a constant threat, in-play on 10 holes.
The subtly undulating fairways are reasonably wide, but they are strongly protected by strategically placed bunkers and thick bluegrass/fescue rough. The majority dogleg and whilst there is enough room out there, players need to think about where they position their ball off the tee.
That allows them to attack the average-sized bentgrass greens, which will be intended to play at a super-fast 12 to 12.5 on the stimp this week. Often narrow/shallow in shape and placed at an angle to the fairway, these sloping putting surfaces can be difficult to hit and enable the use of awkward pin locations, putting an emphasis on quality approach play.
The short-game challenge is varied, with penal bunkers, rough and tightly-mown chipping areas providing ample protection from the contoured greenside surrounds.
TPC Boston is a fun layout with risk/reward opportunities throughout. Water protects three of the four par 5s and par 3s, and we also have the potentially drivable 298yd par-4 4th hole.
The 530yd par-5 18th is an exciting closing hole. An eagle is certainly attainable but there is no shortage of danger, with deep fairway bunkers and water short of the green meaning drama is almost ensured until the final ball is holed on Sunday.
THE WEATHER
This week's weather forecast is a mixed bag. It is predicted to be bright and largely clear in the opening round, with little in the way of wind. That changes on Friday/Saturday, with rain and a moderate 10mph breeze – accompanied by gusts of 20mph+ – on the cards.
However, it will die down on Sunday, leaving us with ideal scoring conditions for the final round.
KEY STATS
- SG: Approach/Greens-in-Regulation
With fairways that are easy to find, it was iron play into these elusive putting surfaces that proved absolutely vital in 2024.
The top two underlined that point: winner Haeran Ryu ranked 2nd in approach and 4th in greens-in-regulation (GIR), while runner-up Jin Young Ko was 3rd in approach.
Further down the leaderboard, Ruixin Liu (3rd place) ranked 19th in approach; Jeeno Thitikul (4th place) ranked 5th in approach and 2nd in GIR; and fellow 4th-place finisher Allisen Corpuz ranked 11th in approach – emphasising that approach play was a common thread among those at the top.
- SG: Off-the-Tee/Driving Distance
The driver was also key in last year's renewal and due to the generous fairways, it was no surprise that power trumped accuracy.
Our 2024 champion Haeran Ryu ranked 4th off-the-tee (OTT) and 4th in driving distance, and although runner-up Jin Young Ko didn't perform particularly well OTT, many of those nearest challengers did.
Of the other top-five finishers, Ruixin Liu ranked 5th OTT and 18th in driving distance; Jeeno Thitikul was 2nd OTT and 7th in driving distance; and Allisen Corpuz ranked 8th OTT. Meanwhile, just outside of that top five, Jennifer Kupcho ranked 6th OTT and 12th in driving distance.
- SG: Putting (bentgrass)
Lastly, everyone who contended last year putted well and we should look out for players who excel when putting bentgrass.
Haeran Ryu has done all of her winning on similar surfaces and ranked 8th on these greens last year. Jin Young Ko ranked 5th with the putter; Ruixin Liu ranked 1st; Allisen Corpuz also ranked 5th; and Jeeno Thitikul ranked 12th.
CORRELATING EVENTS (COURSES)
Arkansas Championship (Pinnacle Country Club)
Pinnacle Country Club is an undulating, tree-lined course with frequent elevation changes that compares closely to TPC Boston. It possesses wide, doglegging fairways, along with bentgrass greens that are similar in size and speed to this week's host.
Notable correlating form:
Haeran Ryu:
FM Championship (1st) / Arkansas (1st)
Jeeno Thitikul:
FM Championship (4th) / Arkansas (1st)
Ariya Jutanugarn:
FM Championship (6th) / Arkansas (4th)
Mizuho Americas Open (Liberty National Golf Club)
Liberty National is a more exposed course than TPC Boston, but situated on the East Coast, with generous fairways and bentgrass greens, we can see why some form-ties developed between these two courses last year.
Notable correlating form:
Haeran Ryu:
FM Championship (1st) / Mizuho (3rd)
Jeeno Thitikul:
FM Championship (4th) / Mizuho (1st)
Jennifer Kupcho:
FM Championship (6th) / Mizuho (2nd, 3rd)
Ariya Jutanugarn:
FM Championship (6th) / Mizuho (3rd)
Evian Championship (Evian Resort)
The undulating Evian Resort is tighter off the tee than TPC Boston, but its approach and putting challenge into and on the contoured bentgrass greens resulted in noteworthy comp form.
Notable correlating form:
Haeran Ryu:
FM Championship (1st) / Evian (5th)
Jin Young Ko:
FM Championship (2nd) / Evian (1st)
Jeeno Thitikul:
FM Championship (4th) / Evian (2nd)
Jennifer Kupcho:
FM Championship (6th) / Evian (2nd)
Celine Borge:
FM Championship (6th) / Evian (3rd)
THE FIELD
Another strong field has assembled for this week's FM Championship, which features seven of the world's top 10, including the top two: Jeeno Thitikul (No.1) and Nelly Korda (No. 2).
Haeran Ryu returns to defend, and she is joined by each of last year's top five: Jin Young Ko (2nd), Ruixin Liu (3rd), Allisen Corpuz (T4), and the aforementioned Thitikul (4th).
Miyu Yamashita makes her first start since winning the Women's Open four weeks ago; English sensation Lottie Woad is back in action; and recent U.S. Amateur champion Megha Ganne gets the chance to test herself against the world's best.
SELECTIONS
Market leaders: Jeeno Thitikul 8/1, Nelly Korda 11/1, Minjee Lee 12/1, Mao Saigo 16/1, Rio Takeda 20/1, Lottie Woad 20/1, Miyu Yamashita 20/1
Celine Boutier
Celine Boutier has put together a sneakily strong campaign in 2025, without quite getting a win over the line. She's currently hitting her irons excellently and despite missing the cut here last year, she has comp form that suggests TPC Boston is a suitable fit.
Boutier has only missed two cuts in 18 starts this season, each coming in majors. She's recorded 10 top-25s and four top-10s, with best efforts of 2nd in the Mizuho Americas Open and 4th in the Meijer LPGA Classic.
This six-time LPGA winner finished 16th in the Portland Classic on her latest start – a result engineered by a strong approach display, ranking 8th. It's been her irons that have shone season long, ranking 14th and with the driver and putter much improved from last year, she's looking sharp through the bag.
Boutier was up against it from the off at TPC Boston last year, opening with a five-over 77. However, she shot six-strokes better in round two and having won the Evian, finished 2nd at Liberty National and finished 5th in Arkansas, she has form in the relevant places.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Angel Yin
Angel Yin's form has slightly dipped over recent starts but there's little to be concerned about. She's hitting the ball solidly, has the power to really attack this layout and as a great bentgrass putter, she can improve on her 19th-place finish in Boston last year.
Yin won her second LPGA title in the Honda LPGA Thailand at the beginning of 2025 and has missed just one cut in 15 starts. She's been superb in the majors, making every cut and recording top-10 finishes of 5th in the Evian Championship, 6th in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and 9th in the U.S. Women's Open.
The putter has been on fire all season, ranking 4th and combined with her being 16th in greens-in-regulation, it's easy to see why her form has been so strong. She's also gaining strokes in approach, and packing a punch off the tee, she fits the profile of many top contenders in 2024.
Yin shot rounds of 66 and 67 on her way to a 19th-place finish last year, where she immediately took to these greens, ranking 3rd in putting. That 5th-place finish in the Evian Championship earlier this year bodes well and though she's not really threatened the top of the leaderboard on her last three starts, I'm expecting her to bounce back into contention at TPC Boston.

Jennifer Kupcho
Jennifer Kupcho was doing all of her best work late on when we were on in Canada, closing with a two-under 69 to finish 36th. After a slow start, she rocketed up the leaderboard into 6th place at the FM Championship last year and as one of the most reliable ball-strikers in the field, I'm happy to stick with her this week.
Kupcho has only one top-10 this season, but that did come via a victory in the Shoprite LPGA Classic four starts ago. She's been ultra-consistent outside of that, with 11 top-40s in 15 starts, and prior to last week she'd finished 11th in the Evian Championship and 23rd in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
She's an excellent 13th off-the-tee this season, and is both long and straight, ranking 27th in driving distance and 54th in accuracy. She hits plenty of greens, ranking 18th in greens-in-regulation and as a sound 33rd on the greens, her games measures up perfectly.
Kupcho opened with a three-over 75 in 2025, but after consecutive rounds of 70-67-65 she climbed to an impressive 6th-place finish. She's a player who tends to find an extra gear on courses at which she's previously played well, and possessing runner-up finishes in the Mizuho Americas Open and Evian Championship, her comp form stacks up strongly.

Rose Zhang
Rose Zhang's 2025 campaign has been blighted by a persistent neck injury. However, there have been positive signs among her recent displays and returning to the East Coast – where she's recorded each of her LPGA wins – this classy player is an appealing price to be in the mix at TPC Boston.
Zhang began the season with promise, finishing 10th in the Tournament of Champions on her first start but has played a limited schedule since. She did play in the last four majors, looking solid when 35th in the Evian Championship and two starts ago she produced her second-best performance of the year, finishing 16th in the Portland Classic.
The American was superb from tee-to-green in Portland, ranking 4th and particularly impressed with her irons, ranking 7th in approach and 14th in greens-in-regulation. She was also a solid 15th in approach at the Evian Championship and despite narrowly missing the cut in Canada, she again fired in this area.
Much like Kupcho, Zhang took a little time to get going in this event last year, opening with a 75, but she responded with rounds of 71-69-68 to finish 25th. She memorably won that first pro appearance at the Mizuho Americas Open in 2023 and if maintaining her recent form in approach, she can make a bold challenge for a third LPGA win this week.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Jenny Bae
Jenny Bae has shown plenty of promise during her rookie season and arrives here after her second top-10 of the year last week. She's a strong ball-striker, a sound putter and with no shortage of power, she should enjoy TPC Boston on her first spin.
Former top-20 amateur Bae only turned pro in 2023 and has made winning look easy on the second-tier Epson Tour, winning three times from 2023 to 2024. She earned automatic promotion to LPGA last year thanks to finishing 7th on the Epson Tour rankings.
She missed a couple of cuts to begin this season but has only missed another three in her last nine starts. Her best effort came when she finished 2nd to runaway winner Chisato Iwai in the Riviera Maya Open; meanwhile, last week's 10th-place finish in the CPKC Women's Open was her second-best result of the year.
Her performance from tee-to-green was top-class in Canada, ranking 7th and the irons were especially strong, ranking 8th in approach. She has hit them well all season, ranking 49th in greens-in-regulation and 57th in approach.
That being said, it's the driver that has stood out for Bae in 2025, ranking 33rd off-the-tee. Capable of balancing top-30 power with a decent level of accuracy, her all-round ball-striking skillset is an appealing one and should help this talented youngster make a positive debut at TPC Boston.
