Following Grant's Forrest impressive win in last week's Nexo Championship in front of a home crowd in Scotland, the DP World Tour now concludes the Closing Swing part of its season in Denmark, with the Danish Golf Championship at Furesø Golfklub.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The Danish Golf Championship – previously known as the Made in Denmark and Made in HimmerLand – was originally held in 2014. It spent the majority of its first 10 years at the HimmerLand Resort, but was switched to Lubker Golf Resort last season, and it again takes in a new venue in 2025: Furesø Golfklub.

Rasmus Højgaard is the only winner from the host nation, claiming the title via a playoff in 2023. Meanwhile, Austria's Bernd Wiesberger is the lone two-time champion, recording victories in 2019 and 2021.

Last five winners:

  • 2024

Winner: Frederic LaCroix (-14)

Runner-up: Lucas Bjerregaard, Romain Langasque (-10)

  • 2023

Winner: Rasmus Højgaard (-13, playoff)

Runner-up: Nacho Elvira (-13)

  • 2022

Winner: Oliver Wilson (-21)

Runner-up: Ewen Ferguson (-20)

  • 2021

Winner: Bernd Wiesberger (-21)

Runner-up: Guido Migliozzi (-16)

  • 2019

Winner: Bernd Wiesberger (14)

Runner-up: Robert MacIntyre (-13)

France's Frederic LaCroix earned his DP World Tour breakthrough in Denmark last year, shooting a superb closing 65 to overturn a four-shot deficit on 54-hole leader Lucas Bjerregaard. He returns to defend this week.

THE COURSE

Located just north of Copenhagen, Furesø Golfklub is split into three nine-hole courses, with the first two completed in 1989 by Jan Sederholm, before eventually expanding to a 27-hole facility. The renowned Mackenzie and Ebert design team then renovated the entire complex in 2015, rebuilding all bunkers and green surrounds.

This week's layout will be a composite of the three courses. The Hestkøbgaard course makes up the front nine, and the back nine includes holes from both the Farum and Parkvej courses.

The result of that is a 7011yd par 71 with significantly contrasting nines in terms of length: the front nine measures 3067yds and the back 3944yds. The setup possesses 4x par 3s (150-197yds), 11x par 4s (322-534yds), and 3x par 5s (540-554yds).

Furesø Golfklub is an attractive parkland course with little elevation. Most holes are lined by towering trees and there are various ponds dotted around the property, bringing water into play on around seven holes.

The sloping fairways are narrow and often protected by smartly placed rough-edged bunkers. There's a lack of severe doglegs, but the trees often encroach on the playing lines, requiring players to employ a level of strategy off the tee.

Bentgrass/fescue covers the elevated and generally open-fronted putting surfaces, which are small-to-average in size. They're regularly narrow/shallow in shape and angled to the fairway position, making them difficult to hit. With undulating greenside surrounds that serve up a variety of short-game challenges, players will have to be at their best around the greens if the ball-striking falters.

Furesø Golfklub offers a little bit of everything. Players should be able to score well on the front nine, which includes two potentially drivable par 4s and two of the reachable par 5s. They'll then have to hang on a little on the back, with four par 4s above 470yds – two of which are over 500yds – and a finish where water is a constant threat.

THE WEATHER

Forecast to be bright and pleasantly warm throughout, this week's field should be welcomed by enjoyable conditions in Denmark. A reasonably stiff breeze is predicted to be a feature, blowing at a constant 8-12mph, accompanied by gusts of 25mph+.

KEY STATS

  • SG: Approach/Greens-in-Regulation
  • SG: Off-the-Tee and/or Driving Accuracy

We're a little in the dark this week, therefore, I'm going to keep it simple from a statistical point of view. These narrow fairways will be difficult to navigate and alongside some small putting surfaces, I believe it will require a precise ball-striking game to contend.

CORRELATING EVENTS

Although there is a lack of comp form to help us out, I've picked out three courses that share similarities with Furesø Golfklub and could correlate nicely.

Thinking about other flat, tree-lined courses with narrow fairways and bentgrass greens, The Belfry's Brabazon Course and Muthaiga Golf Club – hosts of the British Masters and Kenya Open, respectively – are worth a look.

The host of the 2020 Irish Open and ISPS Handa Invitational from 2019-2023, Galgorm Castle Golf Club, is another venue that matches much of that criteria. In addition, last year's Danish Golf Championship host, Lubker Golf Resort, is a par 71 of a similar length, with tight tree-lined holes and raised bentgrass greens.

THE FIELD

This week's field is strengthened by a bunch of players returning from the PGA Tour. Rasmus Højgaard is the top-ranked player in the field at No. 79, and he is joined by six further top-100 players: Kristoffer Reitan (No. 80), Matt Wallace (No. 82), Nicolai Højgaard (No. 89), Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (No. 90), Marco Penge (No. 97), and Thorbjørn Olesen (No. 99).

Frederic LaCroix is the defending champion and one of six former winners in attendance. This includes the aforementioned Rasmus Højgaard (2023) and Matt Wallace (2018), along with Oliver Wilson (2022), David Horsey (2015), and Marc Warren (2014).

DP World Tour legend Thomas Bjorn will make his first start on the tour since appearing in this event last year; talented Spanish youngster Pablo Ereno gets another chance to impress after a solid display in Scotland last week; and keep an eye out for Norwegian amateur Michael Mjaaseth, who currently ranks as the 20th-best amateur in the world.

SELECTIONS

Market leaders (1/5 6 places): Nicolai Højgaard 12/1, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen 12/1, Matt Wallace 14/1, Marco Penge 16/1, Kristoffer Reitan 16/1, Rasmus Højgaard 16/1

Thorbjørn Olesen

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen knows this course very well having practiced here throughout much of his career. Although, born just a 15-minute drive from this week's course, it's reasonable to assume Thorbjørn Olesen is also familiar with the venue. At a much bigger price, this proven eight-time DP World Tour winner – who has won in each of the last three years at this level – is the clear value at the top of a strong market.

Thorbjørn has performed well in 2025, missing just three of 14 cuts in regular PGA Tour events and recording two top-10s: 5th in the Texas Open and 7th in the Myrtle Beach Classic.

I was taken by how well he played from tee-to-green in the 3M Open two starts ago, ranking 6th on his way to a 14th-place finish. This has been the story of a season in which he's looked strong all-round, hitting the ball with precision to rank 12th in ball-striking in the U.S, and he has been holing plenty of putts, ranking 17th on the greens.

It is true that Olesen hasn't set the world alight in his national championship, recording a best of 7th at HimmerLand in 2014. However, he's often carried the weight of expectation as the once bright young thing of Danish golf.

There's a plethora of home players to carry that burden this time around, and I'm hoping he can arrive a little under the radar whilst making any local knowledge of Furesø Golfklub count this week.

Oliver Lindell

Oliver Lindell narrowly missed out on a place for us last week in Scotland, finishing 7th. Having said that, it was the standout performance of a rookie season in which he's appeared comfortable at this level. Hitting his irons to a consistently high standard, he's worth sticking with this week.

The Finn has missed only five cuts in 21 starts of this campaign. He's been particularly good of late, recording five top-25s in eight starts and he also made a taking major championship debut in the Open Championship, finishing 28th.

His laser-like approach play has underpinned these successes, ranking 2nd in this field over the previous three months. He's also putting better and finding more fairways than he was at the beginning of the year. Not lacking for sharpness around the greens, he has the complete skillset to tackle this tricky tree-lined layout.

Lindell is no stranger to playing and winning in Denmark, picking up two trophies in the country in 2016 on the Nordic Golf League. Meanwhile, he finished 2nd in the Danish Golf Challenge on the HotelPlanner Tour last season and was 26th on his only previous start in this event in 2016.

Joe Dean

Joe Dean arrives here immediately following his best result of 2025, finishing 2nd in the Nexo Championship. He possesses appealing comp form in relation to this test and having recently got the driver under control, I fancy him to go one better at Furesø Golfklub.

Dean started the year strongly, making each of his first four cuts and recording finishes of 5th in the Ras Al Khaimah Championship and 13th in the Bahrain Championship. He lost his way with the driver following that, but he's been finding more fairways of late and with the putter also coming alive at Trump International, he was able to finish 2nd to Grant Forrest.

His excellent form last season was engineered by strong ball-striking and a decent touch on the greens. He has been showing positive signs in approach for a few weeks now – ranking 22nd in this field since the end of May – and with those upgraded displays with the driver and putter, his game is in great shape to tackle this layout.

Dean finished 5th on his debut in this event last year at Lubker Golf Resort. That will serve him well here, and also possessing a runner-up finish in Kenya, it's a course that should suit his eye.

Davis Bryant

American Davis Bryant has been an eye-catcher in 2025, playing on a pro tour for the first time since shedding his amateur status in 2023. His game is built around accurate ball-striking and as someone who could still be absolutely anything, he is an appealing price at this suitable venue.

Bryant hit the top 80 as an amateur and though he didn't have any playing rights on a pro circuit last year, he showed his potential on the mini-tours in the U.S, winning both the Colorado and Wyoming state championships. He then carried that positive energy to Q-School at the end of 2024, finishing 3rd in that marathon six-day event to earn his DP World Tour card.

He began this year predominantly playing the HotelPlanner Tour, recording finishes of 4th in Abu Dhabi and 6th in India at that lower level. As starts on the DP World Tour have become more frequent he's transferred that standard of play seamlessly, missing just three of 10 cuts and picking up two top-10s: 4th in the BMW International Open and 10th in the Italian Open.

His game shows little sign of weakness. He lacks explosiveness off the tee but 13th in driving accuracy should work here, as does his quality iron game, ranking 31st in greens-in-regulation and 39th in approach. Gaining strokes around-the-greens and in putting, he has displayed promise with every club in the bag.

Bryant's 4th-place finish in Germany could be a positive pointer for this challenge, and if it does indeed come down to an examination of precise ball-striking, he'd have every chance of another quality performance.
