Our star Golf tipster Jamie Worsley has his work cut out for him this week with multiples previews across the differing tours. As well as his Arnold Palmer Invitational Preview, he has also spotted an angle for a specials bet that looks really attractive.

  • 1pt Corey Conners each-way (1/4, 3 places) - Top Rest of the World @ 11/1

I’m going to stay away from the first-round leader market at Bay Hill this week. The forecast for Thursday is volatile with thunderstorms predicted throughout the day; meaning stoppages could be rife and there’s no telling which part of the draw may end up with the advantage.

Instead, my eye was drawn to the competitive “Rest of the World” market, in which Corey Conners looks an appealing play this week.

1pt Corey Conners each-way (1/4, 3 places) - Top Rest of the World @ 11/1

Conners was very much in my calculations in the outright betting, owing to his strong record in this event, where an elite ball-striking game has often taken him a long way.

After missing his first two cuts at Bay Hill, he has since gone on to record finishes of 3rd, 11th and 21st in the last three years; finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Rest of the World market respectively.

Conners has managed these finishes with superb displays of ball-striking, ranking 3rd in 2021, 5th in 2022 and 11th last year. Which has compensated for his unpredictability on the greens.

This has mirrored his statistical performances this year, which has seen him make every cut but record just the one top 25 at Riviera two starts ago. He ranks 7th off-the-tee and 14th in approach in this field over his last twenty rounds, but outside the top 50 in both short-game areas; the top 60 in putting.

Having said that, he did sign off with a glimmer of positivity on the greens in the Cognizant Classic and he typically looks better on bermudagrass, as shown on those bermuda-based surfaces at the Texas Open, where he’s a two-time champ.

Only Adam Scott in this market comes close to matching Conners’ recent level of ball-striking, whilst of those ahead of him in the betting – Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Byeong Hun An and Hideki Matsuyama – nobody has a better standard of Bay Hill form in recent years than the Canadian.
