The 3M Open begins tomorrow at TPC Twin Cities, and with calm weather predicted throughout the day, the first-round lead looks entirely up for grabs.
Thursday’s forecast is for cloudy, warm and humid conditions from start to finish, which carries with it a small threat of thunderstorms. The early wind speeds are around 6mph and reaching no higher than 10mph over the course of round one, there’s nothing to stop anyone from going low.
With that, I’m going to pick freely from across the tee times, and I have selected four players who have proven they know how to score around this layout.
1 pt Max Greyserman each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 45/1
Start time: 07:07
My first selection is last year’s runner-up Max Greyserman. He returns to the U.S. after a challenging time on the links, missing the cut in both the Scottish Open and Open Championship. However, he was in good form prior to that and shooting low rounds for fun, he can bounce back on Thursday morning.
Greyserman hadn’t missed a cut in 10 starts prior to his trip to the UK and recorded four top-25 finishes in his previous five starts, including finishing 2nd in the Rocket Classic. He ranks 8th in this field in strokes-gained: total over the last three months – particularly excelling on the greens, ranking 9th.
There has been plenty of good scoring over that time, with several quality first-round displays. He opened with a nine-under 63 in the Rocket Classic three starts ago to sit 3rd after round one, and the week previous, he shot a 66 to sit inside the top 10 after 18 holes of the Travelers Championship.
Greyserman made his debut at TPC Twin Cities last year. After an opening 70 he got better with each round, shooting a 68, a 67 and after a final-round 63 – the joint-lowest score of the week – he finished just one shot behind winner, Jhonny Vegas. Showing that he can find that low one that is needed to hit the front on day one in Minnesota.

0.75 pts Keith Mitchell each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 60/1
Start time: 12:21
Keith Mitchell was starting events with serious intent a few months ago, recording three first-round leads. He cooled a little after the Truist Championship, but he’s got off to promising starts in his last two and returning to a course at which he has a positive record, he looks value to be among the leaders tomorrow.
Mitchell missed just one cut in his first 12 starts this season and recorded seven top-25 finishes, producing a best of 2nd in the Corales Puntacana Championship. His overall form has regressed of late, missing two cuts in his last six and failing to hit the top 25, but he still looks a danger in this market.
He’s hitting the ball well and it’s this strength with the long game that has allowed him to make countless positive starts, ranking 1st in this field in first-round performance this season. He enjoyed a ridiculously good five-event period from the end of March to May – picking up first-round leads in the Valspar Championship, Houston Open, and Truist Championship, and finishing 2nd after 18 holes in the Texas Open and Corales Puntacana.
Mitchell has also started well in his last two starts, opening with 66s in the John Deere Classic and Scottish Open. Having twice finished 5th here across in five attempts – over which times he’s shot three rounds of 66 and three 67s – he has much in his favour to climb to the top of the leaderboard on Thursday.

0.75 pts Hayden Springer each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 80/1
Hayden Springer
Start time: 13:49
Hayden Springer has been playing with a great level of consistency in 2025 and arrives after two consecutive top-25 finishes. He showed promise on his 3M Open debut last year and with numerous low scores to his name in recent months, he’s a lively contender in this market.
Springer has made 16 starts this season, missing just two cuts and recording five top-25 finishes. His standout result came on his first start of the year, finishing 6th in the Farmers Insurance Open, but he comes here off the back of finishes of 14th in the ISCO Championship and 23rd at the Barracuda Championship in the last two weeks.
He’s been driving it well these previous three months, ranking 38th in this field and is also top 50 on the greens. With improved approach play starting to creep into his game, he’s started to catch fire. He shot a six-under 64 in the final round of the Canadian Open five starts ago and has amassed two 65s in his following two starts, including in the opening round of the Rocket Classic to sit 7th after round one.
Springer made his debut here last year, finishing 59th, but he actually started superbly, firing a five-under 66 to sit 6th thru 18 holes. Landing here in better form, he can make an even stronger start this week.

0.5 pts Henrik Norlander each-way (1/4 - 5 places) @ 125/1
Start time: 13:38
Henrik Norlander made his joint-best start of the season three starts ago and has followed that with further opening rounds in the 60s on his next two events. The quality of his iron play has enabled him to score here in the past and if finding something on the greens, he’ll be a threat in round one at TPC Twin Cities.
Norlander missed three of his first four cuts of the season but has been much more consistent since, missing just four of his last 16. He’s the best iron player in this field in 2025, which has engineered several low rounds of late.
The Swede has recorded a 65, three 66s, and two 67s in his last seven starts. The 65 came in the first round of the Rocket Classic three starts ago, taking him to 7th place on day one and he again started well in Scotland two weeks ago, shooting a four-under 67 to sit 14th.
Norlander has played here four times and made three cuts, achieving a best of 12th last year. He’s shot five rounds of 67 or better and having finished inside the top 20 on Thursday in each of the last two editions, he’s accustomed to making a fast start at the 3M Open.
