I don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend. I sat down on Sunday, hard at work of course, and took in what I thought was a brilliant race. Max Verstappen came out on top after a stunning drive, while Lando Norris’ late move after the safety car took him to second, ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri.

We backed Max to be on pole and the Aussie to win in Italy, and as these things go, it was the other way around. However, we are looking to bounce back with a winer at the most famous race of the lot - the Monaco Grand Prix. Below you can find my Monaco Grand Prix 2025 predictions.

Monaco Grand Prix 2025 Predictions

  • Max Verstappen - pole position @ 4/1
  • Max Verstappen - race winner @ 7/2
  • Alex Albon - points finish @ 1/2

Max Verstappen - race winner @ 7/2

In last year’s Monaco Grand Prix the top 10 in qualifying finished in that exact order as the top 10 in the race. Home favourite Charles Leclerc secured a history victory from the front, and he is one of the most popular winners of this race we have seen in recent times.

We all know the issues that this track causes in terms of entertainment and overtaking, but there is something still so special about watching these cars go round the most famous racetrack on the planet.

It does make the Grand Prix relatively easy to predict. If we can nail the fastest qualifier, barring disaster, we should be able to name the race winner. Leclerc has been on pole in three of the past four years but with the pace of Ferrari not quite there, I’m not going to back the Monegasque to come out on top.

Instead, as you can see from my first two selections, I’m going all in on Verstappen. I’ve been incredibly impressed with him this term and he’s showing that he will not give up his Drivers' Championship title without a fight. The pace he showed to take the lead in Italy was mightily impressive, and although his teammates have struggled - this Red Bull is clearly set up for him to succeed.

Although he couldn’t quite nick pole last time out he has started from the front on three occasions already in 2025, with Piastri also starting on pole three times - with Norris taking the being the only other fastest qualifier in the curtain-raiser in Australia. With Norris not quite nailing it in recent weeks, it almost feels like a 50/50 toss-up between Verstappen and Piastri and I feel we are getting far better value on backing the world champion, who has won here before back in 2021.

Alex Albon - points finish @ 1/2

One of the stars of the season so far has been Alex Albon at Williams, without a shadow of a doubt. He’s been a brilliant driver especially over the past few weeks where he has now recorded back-to-back fifth place finishes in the last two races. Prior to these finishes, he also finished ninth in Saudi Arabia and he keeps racking up the points for a Williams outfit that is improving as the season progresses.

I think he can land a decent spot in qualifying and therefore, another points finish. Monaco can be tricky, but we’ve seen enough from Albon to back him to record another top-10 finish here.
