David Cameron to beat Jamie Hughes - 11/10

No, not the former PM and current Foreign Secretary but it's the 54-years Canadian darts thrower who is our first selection of the evening session. David Cameron takes on Jamie Hughes (8/11) in a best of five set format, for a place in the second round.

'Excalibur' made his debut in this event last year and made it through to the second round, where he was defeated by Danny Noppert. However, he was probably most well remembered for being the best friend of the Ally Pally Wasp in the opening round win over Richie Edhouse.

As for Jamie Hughes, the 37-year-old has a woeful record at the worlds and has lost in the first round on all four of his appearances. 'Yozzer' is also not in good form, averaging 78 in the Grand Slam and 75 in the Players Championship finals. This should be an upset.

Reynaldo Rivera +2.5 Hcp - 8/15

In the second match of the evening, Ireland's Keane Barry (1/5) takes on Filipino Reynaldo Rivera (18/5) in an intriguing-looking affair.

Barry has long been spoken about as the next big thing in darts but at the age of 21 is struggling to kick on to the next level. 'Dynamite' made his debut at Ally Pally in 2020 and has only made it to the second round once, back in 2022 when he lost to Jonny Clayton in a deciding leg.

Meanwhile Rivera came through the Asian qualifying process  and this will be comfortably the biggest match of his career to date.

All signs point to a Barry victory and whilst I agree that will be the case, I can see Rivera nicking a set here. His scoring in recent games has been reasonable and up around the 95 mark.

Scott Williams -1.5 Hcp - 8/11

Last, but not least we have England's Scott Williams (3/10) taking on Japanese no.1 Haruki Muramatsu (12/5).

'Shaggy' has been a familiar face on the oche for some time now, picking up his first PDC ranking title at the Players Championship series in 2022, without being a full tour card holder.

The world #52 also made it to the semi-finals of the Hungarian Darts Trophy earlier this year and is a tremendous talent when his game is on-song.

He should have too much for Muramatsu, who picked up the PDC Asian Championship this season and made his debut at Alexandra Palace all the way back in 2010.

Sadly, despite winning a couple of preliminary round matches, Haruki has never picked up a set in the first round of his three appearances at that stage and I don't see that changing here.

The Betfred traders have boosted the treble from the 9/2 regular price out to 11/2, which you can back using the button below.
