Night 4 of the Darts Premier League sees us make the trip to the North East, where the Utilita Arena in Newcastle is our venue.

Sean Rafferty has been on a good streak recently, with 50% of his outright winners coming in (four of eight) in just over the past week. Not too shabby that. He has a winner bet plus a Boosted Treble in his sights for us this Thursday evening...

Premier League Darts Night 4 Betting Tips:

  • Back Luke Humphries to win Night 4 @ 3/1
  • Back Humphries to beat Cross, Wright to hit over 1.5 180s & Van Gerwen to hit over 2.5 180s - Betfred Insights Boosted Special @ 7/2 (Boosted from 11/4)

Night 4 Winner:

  • Luke Humphries @ 3/1 (stake 1pt win)

Humphries is quietly starting to rediscover the form he had at the back end of last year. We saw a strong showing from him in Glasgow last week when he just came up short of winning outright on the night, losing 6-5 to Van Gerwen. Missed doubles really let him down, missing 12 in total, which has probably been his Achilles heel so far this year.

However, the scoring is back, he averaged 100+ in all three of his matches last Thursday. He has a favourable draw this week, where he plays Rob Cross and would then face Michael Smith or Nathan Aspinall who are both struggling for form.

MVG/Littler/Price are all in the other half of the draw so it’s a good opportunity for him to at least make the final again, he’ll want to get on the board with a weekly win soon and this looks his best chance so far

Match Tip:

  • 7/2 Treble - Boosted from 11/4 (stake 1pt win)
  • Humphries to beat Cross @ 4/9
  • Wright to hit over 1.5 180s @ 8/15
  • Van Gerwen to hit over 2.5 180s @ 8/11

Leg 1:

As I say, Humphries is back on an upward trajectory after a few good displays last week in Glasgow. If he can knuckle down with his doubles, then I think he’ll win this comfortably enough. Himself and Cross have played each other three times between September and November last year, with Humphries winning all three and playing well in all of them.

Cool Hand should be well refreshed having opted to sit out the recent Pro Tour events again this week. Voltage on the other hand has suffered two opening round defeats in Leicester. He’s failed to average 100+ in any of his 15 matches since the World Championship, which he was managing with ease last year, so his top level game doesn’t seem to be there at the moment. Humphries should boss the scoring, so just needs to keep his composure on the doubles to win.

Leg 2:

Wright has continued to graft away in his quest to find some of his best form again. He still isn’t quite there but you can’t knock his ability of finding a way to win. We've seen him make two SFs and one QF in four PC events so far this year, winning 14 out of 18 matches.

Littler’s form has been more inconsistent in the last couple of weeks, so I was tempted by Wright to win 3+ legs at 1/2 but instead I’m opting for Snakebite to hit 2+ 180s at a slightly better price. Wright has hit 2+ 180s in seven of his last eight matches at the start of the week and in his last 2 PL matches. I think this could be a bit tighter than some think which should allow more legs to hit a couple maximums.

Leg 3:

Van Gerwen has been the man to beat so far in Premier League, winning the week outright in the previous two events. However, I didn’t fancy backing him to win this week against Price who I feel is playing fairly decent, on top of Van Gerwen not playing his best stuff on the Pro Tour at start of week, having only averaged 98+ in two of his nine matches.

However, banging the 180s in still wasn’t proving to be an issue, hitting 3+ 180s in six of his nine matches (same format as PL, first to 6 legs). He’s also hit 3+ 180s in six of his seven PL matches this year, this event seems to be bringing out the best of him thus far. 8/11 is a really generous number for the Green Machine to hit 3+ 180s.
