We're into week 3 of the Premier League Darts and the roadshow reaches bonnie Scotland. Glasgow is our venue for  Thursday night's (19:00) action and, as always, star darts tipster Sean Rafferty is back with his predictions for the nights play north of the border.

Premier League Darts Glasgow Tips

  • Luke Littler Highest Checkout over 100.5 @ 5/6
  • Peter Wright +3.5 Handicap @ 4/6

2pts Boosted Double @ 2/1 5/2

  • 1 pt Night 3 winner - Luke Littler @ 7/2

Night 3 Draw - Glasgow Ovo Arena

Rob Cross vs Michael Smith

Michael van Gerwen vs Peter Wright

Nathan Aspinall vs Luke Humphries

Gerwyn Price vs Luke Littler

Night 3 winner - Luke Littler @ 7/2

It's between Littler and MVG this week to take the spoils, in my opinion.

Both men had very different weeks, as Van Gerwen decided to sit out the opening Players Championship events of the year which were played on Monday and Tuesday, whereas Littler won on his Pro Tour debut on Monday in spectacular fashion, winning 8-7 against Ryan Searle in the final and beating off a 112 average in the process, averaging 110 himself.

An earlier exit in the 2nd round on Tuesday means he shouldn’t be too fatigued ahead of Week 3 in the Premier League. The Nuke averaged 104+ in three of his nine Players Championship matches this week, so is still playing at a very high level.

Van Gerwen and Littler contested last week’s final and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a repeat this week. Littler had the opportunity to win that final, missing match darts at his beloved double 10. He’ll be out for revenge this week and I would rather side with him at a more generous 7/2, given the main threats in his half of the draw are Luke Humphries, who is struggling to find his 2023 form so far and Price, who he’s already beat comfortably on the two occasions they’ve played this year.

Luke Littler Highest Checkout over 100.5 - 5/6

As well as keeping up his red hot form, Littler continues to bang in the big ton plus checkouts. In seven of his nine PC matches this week (the majority of which were best of 11 legs, same as PL format), he managed a 110+ checkout. He also hit 101+ checkout in both of his meetings against Price this year, which were first to seven legs.

Over 100.5 checkout doesn’t seem too big an ask again, when he’s achieving this in around 70-80% of the matches he’s played this year, the 5/6 on offer represents value based on the stats.

Peter Wright +3.5 Handicap - 4/6

I'm doing a bit of U-turn on Wright this week, as he showed a bit more promise in his 6-4 defeat to Humphries last week in the Premier League and followed it up with a solid run on the Pro Tour on Tuesday, reaching the semi finals.

Snakebite didn’t play vintage stuff but showed a lot more consistency, averaging between 93-99 in four of his six matches on Tuesday. I don’t think this is enough to beat MVG but it could well be enough to take 3+ legs, with the additional bonus of playing in front of his home crowd in Glasgow, as well as the confidence he should’ve taken from stringing five wins together on Tuesday.
