Luke Humphries to beat Michael Van Gerwen @ 8/15

Having made the World Championship final at the start of January, many would be forgiven for thinking MVG was turning a corner again and perhaps trying to mount a challenge to the two more dominant players of 2024 in Humphries and Littler. However, it hasn’t really amounted to much as Mighty Mike hasn’t got close to winning an event since.

He was the only Premier League participant that decided to travel to the Pro Tour in Hildesheim this week - unfortunately for MVG he lost in the opening round to Niko Springer on Monday with an average below 90, which led to him deciding to skip the following event on the Tuesday. So you’d have to say it’s another week that hasn’t really gone to plan for The Green Machine.

Humphries isn’t quite in tip-top shape, having failed to win any of the last five events he’s played in, which can be classed as somewhat of a drought by his high standards. He’s still performing decent though - averaging 97+ in 17 of his last 20 matches. Cool Hand enjoys a pretty strong record over MVG in recent times, winning nine of their last 10 meetings, so will be confident of beating a very inconsistent version of the Dutchman.

8/15 looks a very fair price given the recent history and form of both.

Luke Littler most 180’s vs Nathan Aspinall @ 1/2

What can you say about Littler recently? The lad is an absolute phenomenon and a credit to our sport. Besides the occasional blip in the odd game or two in the Premier League or Pro Tour, he’s been close to untouchable the past month or so.

The Nuke has won the UK Open, Belgian Darts Open and two Premier League nights, all in just over the space of a month. The teenager is averaging 103.14 over that period of time which is pretty staggering - even in defeat he’s tending to average above the ton. Littler has averaged 100+ in 13 of his last 15 matches, so you’re looking to do the same to get the better of him usually.

He’s very short to win so instead I’m going to focus on the 180s for Luke - he was already one of the most prominent 180 hitters in 2024, but so far this year has really elevated the maximum hitting to another level - The Nuke has hit 4+ 180s in 11 of his last 13 matches.

Aspinall on the other hand has only managed 4+ in one of his last seven matches, so will struggle to live with the rate Littler hits them at. To back this up further, Littler has hit most 180s in five of his last six matches against The Asp.

1/2 for The Nuke to hit most 180s looks far more appealing than the 1/6 in offer for him to win the match and brings the double to very back-able odds.

1 unit Night 7 winner - Gerwyn Price @ 15/2

This is a pick mainly based on the where the action is being played, but there’s enough evidence to back it up as a solid bet in my opinion. Night Seven is being held in Cardiff, so Price will have the crowd well on his side which in the past has certainly assisted him in a positive way - in three previous years here with the same format they use now, The Iceman made the semis in 2022, won the night in 2023 and made the final last year, all coming in his home country.

We have the added bonus of Gezzy also playing some nice stuff of late - the Welshman sits clear in third in the league table behind the two Lukes, having notched up his second weekly win in Nottingham last week.

He did it in style too, defeating MVG 6-1 in the semis, before quite incredibly defeating Littler for a sixth successive time. Price is very much a confidence player and I think he’ll be brimming with it, with him sitting in such a good position heading into his homecoming night, in an event he’s struggled in on several occasions previously.

15/2 looks the best bit of value if you’re looking for some value outside of Littler or Humphries to win the night outright.
