3u Gerwyn Price to win @ 7/2

I can’t lie; the fact Gerwyn Price didn’t lift the US Masters title for us last weekend is still hurting a touch, but he showed more than enough to go in on him again here - he somehow managed to lose in the final 8-7 to Rob Cross, despite not trailing at any stage in the match until the end and averaging five points higher than his opponent.

Before this, he notched up impressive victories against Jules Van Dongen, a 6-1 win over Peter Wright with a 105 average, before beating Luke Littler 7-6. This run followed up three high level performances at the Dutch Darts Championship. He’s now averaged 96+ in all of his last seven matches and he looks to be back on form following the conclusion of a disappointing Premier League campaign for the Iceman.

He doesn’t have Littler to contend with in his half of the draw this week, which certainly bolsters his chances. He plays Latvian Madars Razma first up who I think he’ll completely outscore. Then he’s likely to face Dimitri Van den Bergh, Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall - the form he’s showed the past couple events is stronger than any of these guys are producing currently.

I keep on saying it, but if he keeps playing like this then a long awaited big stage title can only be a matter of time for Gezzy.

2u Rob Cross to win @ 13/2

As I wrote above, Cross picked up yet another title last weekend, following up his win at the Baltic Sea Darts Open. Aside from a slight blip for a few weeks, Cross has been playing brilliant stuff for over six months now. He only averaged 91 in the US Masters final last weekend, but before this had averaged 95+ in his last seventeen matches, showing some major consistency.

Voltage won back-to-back World Series titles last August, showing he can follow up a good result and I think he is playing more than well enough to do similar here.  Luke Humphries is the big name in the same half of the draw, however he’s proved to be no obstacle for him recently - Rob winning four of their last five meetings, which have all been played within the last six weeks.

The path to the final doesn’t look an easy one - he plays Jeffrey De Graaf first, who recently made a Pro Tour final and sits comfortably at the top of the Nordic Baltic Tour Order of Merit, playing the best darts of his career this year. Following this would most likely be a match against Stephen Bunting, so every game will be tough. However Rob is well equipped to cope with a run of tough fixtures at the moment and a cracking 13/2 makes it well worth taking him this week.
