Over 5.5 total sets in Damon Heta vs Rob Cross @ 8/15
Cross and Heta have had their ups and downs this year. It’s been a real mixed bag from both in 2025 but now they have the opportunity to recover their seasons with a big run here. Whether it can go any further than a win here is pretty unlikely, given Luke Littler should be awaiting the winner in the Last 16.
There’s not a great deal to separate the yearly stats - Heta is averaging 94.69 over the past twelve months, with Cross averaging 95.77. Both are averaging low 90s across their opening two matches and haven’t come close to playing to their full potential.
With not much separating them, I looked to the head-to-head which backs that up in recent history, with their two most recent meetings in 2024 finishing 10-8 and 6-5. Over 5.5 sets is a really appealing bet for two players that just can’t seem to do the job easily at the moment.
Gian van Veen over 120.5 check out vs Madars Razma @ 1/2
Gian absolutely lit up the Ally Pally pre-Christmas with a scintillating performance against Alan Soutar. The Giant averaged over 108 in a hard-fought but classy win over the popular Scot. Soutar came flying out the traps and missed darts to go 2-0 up, but van Veen didn’t look back after winning the second set. He was consistently brilliant, averaging 104 or more in all four sets, as well as hitting 48% on doubles and seven maximums, in what was a complete performance.
Razma had arguably his best ever performance up on the Ally Pally stage as he defeated Darren Beveridge 3-1. Razmatazz averaged 97 and hit 59% of his doubles as he fended off a comeback from the Scotsman. Razma’s lowest set average was 94 and if is his treble 19 hitting is on point along with his doubles, he can be a tough player to contend with. However, I think van Veen’s power scoring and consistent doubles will prove too much for the Latvian.
Gian’s combination finishing is a massive strength of his and something you can rely on him to do over a longer format, as we now play first to four sets. The Dutchman took out the big fish in that win over Soutar and has been known to have a few big finishes in his armoury in these long matches.
Gian took out a 111+ checkout in 11 of his 14 matches in a strong spell in October and managed it in three of his five matches on route to his European Championship win. Van Veen ton plus checkouts looks the best value in what I’m expecting to be another exciting performance from GVV.
