Darts Betting Tips: The Asp to star in Boosted Grand Slam double

Wednesday sees day three of the World Grand Prix Darts, and as always , Betfred Insights' Darts expert, Sean Rafferty, is on hand to deliver his predictions including a double that's been boosted by our traders.
Read below for Sean's Darts betting tips for the third day of the World Grand Prix Darts 2024.
World Grand Prix Day 3 Betting Tips
Boosted double @ 11/4 7/2
Nathan Aspinall -1.5 Set Handicap @ 7/5
Aspinall came through a first round thriller against Ryan Searle. 'The Asp' won 2-1, producing a 12-darter in the deciding leg to get over the line, in what was a high-quality match. He averaged 93 which is very good when you consider it’s a double start.
He got away on the double first visit in 11 of the 12 legs, which is good consistency and gives himself the opportunity to score quickly every leg. I already mentioned previously how impressed I’ve been with how quickly Aspinall has got up and running again since returning from his injury and last night’s win could well be a catalyst to have a big finish to 2024. With the exit of Luke Littler, this section of the draw is beginning to open up for Aspinall already and if he goes on a deep run this week then it’ll give him more confidence for upcoming events.
Joyce got the job done comfortably in the end against Josh Rock in straight sets, despite being priced up as the outsider. In all honesty, life was made pretty easy for him as Rock’s doubles at the back end of legs were poor.
It was a solid enough performance - an 86 average and above 40% on doubles starting and finishing, he will need to up his scoring though and I think that’s where Nathan gets this match won, in the scoring part of legs. 7/5 is a decent price for Asp to get this done in a comfortable fashion.

Martin Schindler +1.5 Set Handicap @ 4/7
Schindler’s opening round was a walk in the park in his win over Brendan Dolan. The tops hitting from The Wall was so strong at the start and finish of legs - 62% starting doubles and 50% finishing doubles, if he can repeat this then he’ll be tough for anyone to beat.
It may be time for 'Schindy' to take that next step and win or go close to winning one of these real big events, he’s already kicked on this year by winning two Euro Tour events, his first PDC ranking titles. These were both in-front of big crowds so he can definitely do it. To take that step he needs to start winning matches like this one, he’s never had a great record in the majors but he’s progressing steadily and looks more comfortable on the televised stages now.
Rob Cross recorded a rare victory at the World Grand Prix as he dumped out tournament favourite Luke Littler 2-1. This was a bit of a collectors item for Rob, being just his third win in what is now his eighth WGP appearance. It’s the first time he’s ever averaged above 90 in a WGP match too.
However, he still didn’t have much positive words to say about his chances in this format to the media post-match, he’s still pretty adamant he can’t get comfortable with the double-in start. He’s failed to ever go beyond the second round of this tournament and he’s aware of it, so this may be in his head a bit.
I can’t see Cross running away with this as he clearly doesn’t seem to be consistent enough in this format, it’s a good opportunity for The Wall to cause what would still be classed as a bit of an upset, to win two sets should be more than achievable at 4/7.
The Betfred traders have boosted the double from 11/4 all the way out to 7/2, which you can load directly to betslip below.
