Darts Betting Tips: Boosted 180s double for Thursday’s action

The PDC World Darts Championship marches on at Ally Pally and on Thursday we have another boosted double from our resident darts expert Sean Rafferty that is worth a look.
World Darts Championship Thursday Betting Tips
- Chris Landman most 180s @ 2/5
- Mensur Suljovic over 2.5 180s @ 4/6
2 units boosted double @ 11/8 13/8
Chris Landman most 180s @ 2/5
He may not be one of the best players on tour but I always feel Chris Landman is a potentially awkward tie for anyone, a lightning quick thrower and a big scorer at times. He made three appearances at the BDO World Championship, his best effort coming in 2020 when he reached the QF's before losing to eventual champion Wayne Warren. He then played in the WDF World Championship just over a year ago when he was without a PDC tour card, it proved a good decision as he went on a fantastic run all the way to the final, where he was well beaten by Andy Baetens.
Lok Yin Lee makes his Ally Pally debut this week, having qualified as next best on the order of merit on the Asian Tour. He’ll need to lift his game significantly to really be in the mix here - over 70 matches this year, the Hong Kong man is averaging just 79.58. A mixture of this and possible nerves on his Worlds debut make me think this will be a fairly routine win for Landman, as long as he plays to around that 89 average he’s been at over the past twelve months.
Lok Yin Lee isn’t the quickest thrower in the world - some may see this as a disadvantage to Landman who is absolutely rapid, but I don’t think he’s one that lets the pace of the match affect his own rhythm and game, it certainly wasn’t an issue when he swept aside Scott Mitchell in straight sets here in 2022, who was one of the slowest on tour at the time. That match is also an example that Landman can cope with the big occasion, being that was his first time on this stage.
1/7 is a bit skinny for the Landman win and the handicap looks fairly short too, so I’m going to opt for 180s instead. The Countryman can certainly bang them in on a consistent basis and is averaging 0.22 180s per leg for the year. In comparison, Lok Yin Lee isn’t prolific at all at filling the treble 20, averaging just 0.10 180s per leg. The stats show Landman is hitting over double the amount of 180s his Asian opponent is in the same amount of legs, so 2/5 most 180s for the Dutchman is the value pick in tomorrow’s opener.

Mensur Suljovic over 2.5 180s @ 4/6
I never bet on a deciding set to happen, but if ever a match had five sets written all over it I think it’s this one. Only 0.5 points separate their yearly averages, with Mensur having the fractional lead on that front. Ironically, they haven’t had a tight match in their previous three meetings, with Mensur winning two of them. But there definitely isn’t much separating them and both have previous for tight matches in this iconic venue.
Suljovic has a really mixed bag of results at the World Championship - with a player that has reached the heights he has in the past, he really should have a better record. In fifteen appearances at Ally Pally, The Gentle has never gone beyond the last 16, falling short at that stage on three occasions and also suffering defeats in his opening match on several occasions. He failed to qualify for the Worlds last year for the first time since 2013, but has done enough this time round to make it. His last WC appearance was better, defeating Mike De Decker 3-0 before putting up a dogged fight against Michael Van Gerwen, losing out 4-2 but averaging close to a ton himself.
Matt Campbell had a good go here last year, coming through against Lourence Ilagan 3-2, before upsetting seeded James Wade by the same scoreline, he then ran into the machine that was Luke Littler sadly. Mensur has the pedigree over Ginja Ninja, but as I say this isn’t the happiest hunting ground for the Austrian.
As it’s nigh on impossible to predict a winner, I’m going to go for Mensur to hit over 2.5 180s instead. He’s never been known for being a big 180 hitter, but gradually over time he’s hit a few more. He’s averaging 0.19 180s per leg over the year, so around 15/16 legs should be enough to see him hit three. Due to how tight I think this match will be, 15-20 legs being played is highly likely and should be more than enough time for Mensur to nail 3+ maximums at 4/6.
