1.5 units Josh Rock to win @ 9/1

He just missed out last week but with a weakened field making the trip to Austria this weekend in comparison to the one that was in Munich, Rocky was the first name on my list this time round.

Like I said last week, he was the last name to be scored off my final outright list for the German Darts Grand Prix and he did impress in Munich - Josh finally departed in the semi finals having been on the receiving end of a top performance from eventual winner Van Gerwen. He did put in some top performances before that, including a 6-4 win over Gerwyn Price with a 111.42 average.

Despite only having the one Pro Tour title to his name in 2025, I’d say Rocky has been the best floor player so far this year. His ability to post so many successive 100+ averages make him so hard to beat - Josh has averaged 100+ in 12 of his last 16 matches, so you’d presume anyone in this field would have to be at their best to get rid of him.

Having won his first European Tour title last year, he’s showed gradual improvement in Europe so far this year, going 1st round, 2nd round, QFs then SFs, here’s hoping that trend continues and he at least makes the final. He’ll feel his form over the past month or two is more than worthy of a big stage title and with several big names absent this weekend, he won’t get many better chances than this.

1.5 units Nathan Aspinall to win @ 9/1

It’s been a whirlwind 18 months or so for The Asp - with so many injury problems last year which eventually seen him have to sit out of events for a few months after surgery. He slowly built up his form again the tail end of last year and has started to reap the rewards in early 2025, putting together a bit more consistency which has seen him pick up some silverware.

In the space of just a few weeks, Nathan won Night 10 of the Premier League, as well as finally winning his first ever European Tour event, on top of another final on it the following week and making a Pro Tour final last week. He sat out of the Pro Tour event the following day after picking up a slight injury - it doesn’t seem to have plagued him too much as he played Premier League last week, winning his opening match against Price with a 97 average.

Of all the players in this field, he’s easily one of the most successful of the past six or seven years and is definitely more proven and shown to have just as much if not more bottle than the others up the top of the market, when it comes down to it.

Kevin Doets or Berry Van Peer in the last 32, followed by Martin Schindler most likely in the last 16 looks a nice enough path to the quarter finals on Sunday evening. Considering he’s already proven he can get the job done in higher class fields recently, he could use his experience to get over the line if he’s at the business end this weekend which made him an easy pick.

0.75 units Ryan Joyce e/w (1/2 - 2 Places) @ 33/1

Ryan gave us a great run for our money at the German Darts Grand Prix last weekend at 100/1, another who eventually lost out to a great performance by Van Gerwen, despite being 4-2 up in that match.

There were many positives to take for Joyce last weekend, he’s mainly known for being one of the most reliable double hitters on the planet, but I was impressed with his scoring for the most part across his four matches - Relentless put averages of 100 and 101 together in the last 32 and last 16 emphasises how solid his scoring was throughout the tournament.

In three European Tour appearances this year, Joyce has now made a final and a quarter final. We are taking a third of the odds compared to last week, mainly due to the depleted field this week but I seen enough good signs last week that he is a match for anyone in this. He’ll likely have a tricky match against Ryan Searle in last 32, assuming he beats Teemu Harju on Friday. But Searle is relatively out of form on the big stage, as are Heta, Cullen and Chisnall who are the other seeds in this section. Joyce has produced more away from the floor events than any of the four seeds in his quarter of the draw so I’m gobbling up the 33/1 available on him.
