Tour de France Stage 14 Predictions: Has Felix the Gall to take on the mighty Pog?

It is the final day of three in the Pyrenees and four more daunting climbs to drain yet more out of the legs of Tadej Pogacar and the rest of the peloton.
Stage 14 sees them tackle the infamous Col du Tourmalet followed by the Col d'Aspin and Col de Peyresourde before the final crippling ascent up to the ski resort of Luchon Superbagneres. Below you will find my Tour de France Stage 14 predictions.

Tour de France Stage 14 Odds
Tadej Pogacar win @ 4/5
In theory, Stage 14 has a predictable feel to it which may very well produce a very predictable winner.
There are four major climbs on the 182.6km trek from Pau to Superbagneres but the first 70km are as flat as it comes in this part of the world.
That should mean a breakaway forms, but without any true climbers in it, and by the time any escapees get reeled in - as they will, somewhere up either the Col du Tourmalet or Col d'Aspin, no doubt - it will be the GC group calling the shots once more, going all-in for glory.
Unless Pogacar implodes, nobody is taking the maillot jaune off his shoulders and the Slovenian defending champion does look the man to beat judged by the way he stormed to victory up the Hautacam.
Visma Lease-A-Bike still have the numbers to influence the pace but everything they have thrown at Pogacar has failed so far.
And if it's a straight head-to-head between the champion and Jonas Vingegaard up the final ascent of the day, then the Slovenian gets the vote.

Felix Gall win @ 50/1
Another scenario is that there is a breakaway during the first hour of racing and one or two of the better climbers trying to bridge over up the Tourmalet, before the GC group gets interested.
Earlier in the Tour UAE Team Emirates would not have allowed that to happen, but clearly by now it depends who it is chancing their arm.
Someone who would probably be allowed to go - and is climbing well - might be Felix Gall of AG2R, now over nine minutes down on the leader but still harbouring hopes of making the podium.
Stage 7 was hilly enough to keep the Austrian interested and he followed Pogacar over the line by two seconds in fourth.
And Gall, the winner up to Courchevel in the 2023 Tour, delivered a decent effort up the Hautacam where he finished eighth, albeit a time zone behind the Slovenian.
