Tour de France Stage 13 Predictions: Oscar to get his award in lucky 13

The riders left in the Tour de France are bracing themselves for the second time trial of this year's race - and it couldn't look any different to the first. Nine days ago, the riders tore around a 33km route out and back into Caen with world champion Remco Evenepoel taking the stage. It was a breeze.

Stage 13, in stark contrast, is just 10.9km but absolutely brutal, pretty much uphill all the way with double digit gradients in the final kilometre. Twenty-four hours after scaling the Hautacam, only the real strongmen will still be in contention after Stage 13 which is going to be unlucky for an awful lot of riders. Oscar Onley each-way @ 200/1

Tadej Pogacar was the last winner of a mountain time trial on his way to glory in 2020, but it will be interesting to see what he has in the tank for this year's slog.

He's an exceptional time trialist - on any terrain - but team-mate Tim Wellens has warned that his fall on Stage 11 on Wednesday could actually now start to take its toll.

You couldn't rule out Pogacar but there are other mountain time trialists who, maybe feeling better, can get involved in the conversation for a famous stage win.

And among those ought to be British hope Oscar Onley, enjoying a second Tour and showing how much he has come on with some seasoned efforts.

The 22-year-old Team Picnic prodigy finished among the big boys into Rouen on Stage 4 to move up to fourth in the General Classification, and he was still in the top 10 going into the second week.

He showed his mountain time trialing prowess at last month's Tour de Suisse when he finished third, just over a minute behind Joao Almeida, on the 10km hike to Stockhutte.

Onley will feel he belongs now and this is a chance for him to make some giant strides up the GC rankings.

Harry Sweeney each-way @ 400/1

EF Education EasyPost are having a dream Tour and Harry Sweeney is very much a part of that.

The Australian, back at the Tour for the first time in four years, was commended for the powerhouse efforts that got team-mate Ben Healy into yellow, a jersey the Irishman has shown little inclination to relinquish.

Sweeney says he gets stronger as stage races go on, is a formidable climber and with no one to protect, he can give Stage 13 a real shot.

Like Onley he performed brilliantly in the mountain time trial in Switzerland - he was 42 seconds down on the Briton - and that should be the ideal confidence boost for this gruelling ascent.
