Turner vs Muguruza Predictions: Knockout artist super fly should stop the visitor

Jack Turner takes a look in the mirror this Saturday, August 23 as he takes on fellow 11-0 prospect Nicolas Agustin Muguruza. ‘El Terrier’ fights at the Altrincham Ice Arena on the undercard of Jack Rafferty vs Mark Chamberlain. DAZN screen the event live.
Here are my Turner vs Muguruza predictions ahead of a fight where someone’s ‘0’ has to go.
Turner vs Muguruza Betting Tip
*odds correct at time of publication
Turner is 1/8 to get this job done, with the oddsmakers expecting a straightforward night. Muguruza is 11/2 with a 15.4% implied chance of the upset. The draw is available at 20/1.
Turner vs Muguruza Fight Preview
Despite their identical win/loss records, Turner is favoured here. Promoters Queensberry think they have got something special on their hands in the rock-handed super flyweight. The early signs are good. 10 knockouts in 11 victories, even in the face of steadily-improving opposition.
Ryan Farrag was supposed to be the acid test. 23-5 coming in, his only stoppage loss was nine years before in a European title fight. The veteran had held that title in the past, along with the English belt. Farrag had also challenged for the British and Commonwealth straps. He had mixed in very good company and held his own.
Turner swarmed his fellow Scouser in round two, knocking out the man hired to give him some hard rounds and questions to answer. The fight was also Turner’s first scheduled 10-rounder. All the pieces were in place to give the 23-year-old some ring time. But his power simply would not stand for that.
Can Muguruza buck the trend against a man with eight first-round KOs in 11 wins? It does look like the Argentine is packing a little power of his own. While he only has six knockouts on his own 11-0 register, that number is skewed by his first four bouts all ending via decision. ‘Demonio’ is currently on a four-fight knockout streak, suggesting he always had power, but that improving skills have helped him to apply it.
Muguruza’s most recent victory saw him dispose of Sergio Rosalez in three rounds to win the WBC Latino title. The belt sounds grander than it is and his opponent was 9-4 without an opponent you’d recognise on his record. But the fact one of the sanctioning bodies is taking an interest bodes well.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Not too well though. Or else the building job would continue in Argentina with a steady stream of increasingly-tougher opponents. But instead, Muguruza and that glistening record are being put on the line a shade under 7000 miles from home. Turner is the A-side here. Muguruza is the offering.
The Argentine would not be the first South American visitor to upset a British hot prospect. Who can forget Breidis Prescott wiping the floor with Amir Khan? Muguruza is yet to beat a recognisable opponent, but every emerging fighter that makes it to the top has to beat their first name foe some time.
I may be over-hyping the Argentine’s chances here. There is little to suggest he comes here armed for the upset. But also no indication of where his ceiling is. Perhaps Muguruza is destined to do his best work domestically. But we won’t know until he stares down Turner, the knockout-hungry buzzsaw of the British super flyweight class.

Turner vs Muguruza Prediction
If this one develops into a tear-up, we could see Turner’s chin tested properly for the first time. Muguruza has racked up a fair few knockouts recently, after all.
But if a brawl is on the menu, I must say I favour Turner. Truly concussive as a puncher, even when facing usually-durable fare. I’m taking Jack by knockout at 4/7. But to sweeten the deal, I’ll pick rounds 1-3 for a Turner win at 7/2. Another short night for ‘El Terrier’.
