Savannah Marshall vs Shadasia Green Predictions: Return of Hartlepool’s ‘Silent Assassin’

IBF and The Ring super middleweight Savannah Marshall aims to regain what was hers as she takes on WBO counterpart Shadasia Green this Friday, July 11. The championship unification bout takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York on a bumper Netflix bill headlined by Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano III.
Here are my Savannah Marshall vs Shadasia Green predictions ahead of this super middleweight sizzler.

Hartlepool's champion comes in at 1/5 here. Green is the underdog at 7/2 while the draw is available at 16/1.
Savannah Marshall vs Shadasia Green Fight Preview
While Marshall is technically looking to unify her title here, for all intents and purposes she is the one true champion at 168lbs. ‘The Silent Assassin’ beat Franchon Crews-Dezurn in July 2023 to win the undisputed super middleweight championship. Marshall has not lost, or indeed boxed, since.
But given her lengthy lay-off, a sabbatical Savannah used to dip her toe into MMA, the 34-year-old comes back with only her IBF title intact. The dethroned Dezurn now has now regained the WBC and WBA titles she lost to Marshall while Green holds the WBO.
Green herself lost to Dezurn for the vacant WBC belt, but has since rebuilt by out-scoring Melinda Watpool to capture the WBO strap. But Marshall remains champion with The Ring and in the lineal sense. Now she has swapped the cage for a squared circle return, this is the Hartlepool boxer’s division to rule.
It has been a long wait for Savannah. The 34-year-old was expected to compete on the all-female Albert Hall card staged by BOXXER back in March. But now, as part of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions stable, Marshall boxes on the year’s second major women-only event.
Marshall’s lay-off will possibly play a role here. Even if you account for her one-fight MMA sojourn at least keeping her in fighting fettle, it is still a year since she stopped Mirela Vargas on her PFL debut in Newcastle.
One has to venture a year further back from her cage visit to find Savannah’s last boxing outing. Beating Dezurn for the undisputed title is as impressive as it gets in terms of a latest win. Marshall dethroned a fighter who had held a version of the world title for five years going into the fight. The majority decision was gritty and gruelling, but the win was one of Marshall’s finest.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
But is Marshall still the same fighter that secured that points nod? Two years is a long time out of the prize ring. I spoke to Savannah last December and she was back in the boxing gym. No word ever emerged on who her intended opponent was for the Albert Hall card. It is unclear if she was set for a tune-up or a championship fight in London.
A keep-busy bout is the norm when a fighter has been out of the ring for two years. But now Marshall takes on a fellow champion in a big-ticket attraction. It is a risk, but we are talking about an elite fighter.
Only Claressa Shields has beaten Marshall in the pros, avenging the Brit’s amateur victory over her. ‘The GWOAT’ was Savannah’s intended target on her MMA jaunt, with Shields also fighting with the PFL. But the American has instead carved out a campaign up at heavyweight on her return to boxing, making a rematch unlikely in the short-term.
But Marshall will still target that fight in the future. The pair have defined each other for so long it seems inconceivable that they will not meet again. But Green is enough of a challenge for now. A deserving world champion who has beaten former and reigning titlists like Watpool, Ogleidis Suarez and Elin Cederroos.
A standout fight on a fight full of such battles. MSG will present something special to the world on Netflix this Friday. It is good to see Marshall back under the lights on the sort of night her accomplishments deserve.

Savannah Marshall vs Shadasia Green Prediction
If we get the version of Marshall who signed off with that hard-fought title win over Dezurn, then without being disrespectful I think she walks this.
But it is interesting that ‘The Silent Assassin’ started that fight slowly. Green has a fearsome 11 knockouts in her 15 wins. Could the WBO champion jump on the IBF queen early to try and get her out of there?
Even if she does, I don’t see that happening. Marshall took Shields’ best punches and made it a fight for 10 rounds. Green has nothing that the Hartlepool boxer has not seen before.
I’m picking Marshall by decision in a fight that will be competitive but not close. If you agree, Marshall on points is priced at 1/2.
