Rhiannon Dixon vs Terri Harper Predictions: Harper has it all to do

WBO lightweight champion Rhiannon Dixon defends her title this Saturday, September 28 against the decorated Terri Harper. The fight takes place at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield. DAZN will televise the card.
Here are my Dixon vs Harper predictions ahead of this big world championship attraction.
Dixon’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. While an overused axiom in boxing, how else would one describe it? Dixon went from an unpaid career of just seven white-collar fights all the way to a world title. The former pharmacist has conquered elite level in just 10 fights. If it happened in a Hollywood Rocky clone, you’d call it a little far-fetched.
But Dixon is very real. The 29-year-old from Warrington has risen to the top under the guidance of former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla. A man who knows a thing or two about the building, he led Dixon to her title win over Karen Elizabeth Carbajal at Manchester Arena in April.
If that tough night was a fact-finding mission in what it takes to box at world class, fighting Harper is a baptism of fire. This first defence comes against a woman who has world titles at two weights on her mantle.
Harper has been in with pugilistic royalty like Natasha Jonas, Cecilia Braekhus and Alycia Baumgardner. The 27-year-old knows about boxing’s euphoric highs and crushing lows in vivid detail.
One of those lows came last time out when she was stopped in four rounds by WBO welterweight boss Sandy Ryan (who defends her belt against Mikaela Mayer in the early hours of Sunday morning). The defeat was the second of Harper’s career, with Baumgardner stopping her in the same round back in 2021.
Harper had rebuilt from that loss to the American in fine fashion. She won Hannah Rankin’s WBA super welterweight stap and beat Ivana Habazin in her first defence. A draw with WBO counterpart Braekhus held no shame. The Norwegian is one of the sport’s greatest active legends.
But the wheels firmly came off against Ryan. Harper is now fighting to prove not only that she is capable of winning a third world title, but to demonstrate that she still has something to offer the sport.
That is not a responsibility to take lightly at the age of 27. Harper is younger than Dixon by two years, but the champion is fresher. Harper has spent years at world level while this is realistically Dixon’s second fight amongst the best.
That can either manifest as Harper having the necessary experience to navigate deep waters Dixon has never swam in. Or it will mean Dixon is fresher and less battle-worn. Either way, I feel the experience gap will play a part in this one.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Rhiannon Dixon vs Terri Harper Fight Odds
Dixon is a clear favourite at 1/4. You can back Harper to turn the clock back at 100/30. The draw is 14/1, a result Harper has already experienced twice in her career. Third time’s the charm?

Rhiannon Dixon vs Terri Harper Prediction
Dixon has knocked out just one of her 10 opponents. While both Harper’s losses came by stoppage, I don’t see her getting halted here.
Instead, I think we will see a much-improved performance from Dixon as she works out the kinks from the Carbajal win. I’m backing Dixon on points at 1/2.
