Pat McCormack vs Robbie Davies Jnr Predictions: Sharp Pat welcomes Davies to the fun house

World class amateur Pat McCormack gets his toughest professional test on Saturday, February 15 when he takes on Robbie Davies Jr. The bout takes place at the sparkling Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr. will headline on the night, with DAZN screening the event live.
Here are my McCormack vs Davies Jr. predictions ahead of this cracking match-up.
Pat McCormack vs Robbie Davies Jr Odds
McCormack is 1/33 to win this fight. Read on to find out just how special this man is. Davies is 10/1 and you won’t find many 6-0 fighters he’d start at those odds against. A draw can be backed at 25/1.
To say a lot is expected of the 6-0 McCormack is an understatement. Boxing is full of standout amateurs that turn pro, it is the very lifeblood of the sport. But few carry the sort of credibility that McCormack boasts.
Even a fractional list of his accolades is stunning. Olympic silver medal. Commonwealth gold. World silver. Two European silvers. EU gold. European Games gold. This guy has seen more medals than The Simpsons have sofas.
McCormack has amassed his six professional wins in decent enough company. He has stopped for from six without facing a single fighter with a losing record. You rarely find a fighter who is picking off world-beaters six fights in, but McCormack has not been feasting on journeymen either.
The Sunderland lad has been mixing with experienced fighters, many of whom have been in with some excellent competition. But he has taken to the pros like a duck to water, which has necessitated a huge jump in class for his next outing.
Davies has worn every belt short of a world title in a decorated career. The Liverpudlian has held the British, Commonwealth and European titles. He’s knocked out a former world title challenger in the brick-tough veteran Hank Lundy. Davies also holds a points nod over Olympian Javier Molina.
Davies is coming off perhaps his best win, a unanimous decision over former two-time world title challenger Javier Fortuna. There are very few fighters with the breadth of experience of Davies who are still winning against top fighters.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
This is an incredible act of bravery from both men. Davies risks it all against the amateur superstar who no one can touch. McCormack throws caution to the wind and puts his hot-prospect status on the line. If only all boxers were this keen to make fights of this ilk.
This card has a few fights that could make an argument for being the aficionado’s highlight. It really is a stacked event from top to bottom. But this is my personal pick. There is something intoxicating about an earmarked star of the future forgoing the easy route by taking such a stern test. This one will be absolutely fascinating.

Pat McCormack vs Robbie Davies Jr Prediction
A win for McCormack would be a huge statement. A knockout would be seismic.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think the Olympian gets one on this occasion. Davies can be caught. Darragh Foley and Michal Syrowatka have finished him. But he has also survived the likes of Sergey Lipinets and Fortuna.
A knockout would be huge, but I think the decision will be enough to show McCormack’s minerals. I’m picking him on points at 21/5.
