Pat

Olympian Pat Brown makes his long-awaited professional debut this Friday, March 28 at Planet Ice in Altrincham. The Manchester man goes in with Argentina’s Federico Javier Grandone over 10 rounds at cruiserweight. The bout will be broadcast live on DAZN with an undercard featuring the likes of William Crolla and Cameron Vuong.

Here are my Brown vs Grandone predictions ahead of the amateur standout’s professional debut.

Pat Brown vs Federico Javier Grandone Betting Tips

Pat Brown vs Federico Javier Grandone Odds

Brown is a massive favourite at 1/200, owing to his amateur pedigree and the nature of his opposition here. Grandone is 20/1 to get the job done. A draw between the pair is also priced at 20/1.

Pat Brown vs Federico Javier Grandone Fight Preview

Brown had been set to make his bow against Vladimir Reznicek, before the Czech was replaced late in the game by Grandone. The previous opponent looked like a far tougher night for Brown, but a late adjustment could throw a debuting fighter off their game a little.

Brown is in the uncommon position of headlining a card on his debut. But the Paris 2024 Olympian is not being treated like an ordinary first-timer. Brown was given a huge unveiling event at Halle St Peter’s in Manchester, where he was interviewed by Steve Bunce alongside his trainers Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis.

Brown’s manager, Sam Jones, was also in attendance. Jones is always engaging and a headline-machine. He has guided the likes of Jack Catterall, Joe Joyce and Johnny Fisher. With Matchroom behind him and a top-class team in place, it is safe to say Brown is in good hands.

It is what he does with those hands that will ultimately dictate his ceiling. Grandone might not be the most robust of that, given the fact he has lost four on the bounce. Two of those came by knockout. Reznicek certainly looked a more challenging debut, let’s put it that way.

But the first fight is not about beating a world class opponent. Just look at the first outing of other touted Olympians. Amir Khan stopped 3-4 David Bailey in the first round. James DeGale outpointed Vepkhia Tchilaia, who was 9-8 going in. Pat McCormack defeated 5-5-1 Justin Menzie. Against this backdrop, Brown debuting against 7-4-1 Grandone is par for the course.

Pat Brown V Federico Javier Grandone - Bout Winner (3-Way) Brown to win

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Some have criticised his status as a headliner, but this is a man who was packing houses out as an amateur. Who took a hefty following out to Paris for the Olympics. Quite simply, he is headlining because he has enough fans to fill Planet Ice in Altrincham.

I venture that those fans will have plenty to cheer. Brown’s first-round exit at Paris 2024 was a surprise. But I don’t expect any on Friday night. I think this will be a procession in front of a rowdy crowd that will provide the perfect soundtrack to the start of an exciting career.

Pat Brown vs Federico Javier Grandone Prediction

I don’t think I’m pulling up any trees here by suggesting Pat Brown wins this. I think he does so by stoppage but since I don’t have that option available to me, it is just that 1/200 shot at the Brown win.
