Lewis Edmonson vs Oluwatosin Kejawa Odds

Edmondson is 1/12 to pull off the win and retain his title. A draw is available at 16/1 while underdog Kejawa is priced at 6/1.

Lewis Edmonson vs Oluwatosin Kejawa Fight Preview

Edmondson returns to the ring after scoring a career-best victory in November. On that night, ‘The Saint’ knocked the Dan Azeez comeback train off the tracks with a majority decision victory to take the British and Commonwealth titles. Edmondson was supposed to be fodder for Azeez after the Buatsi loss. But instead, the underdog had his day and walked out with a pair of title belts.

The Commonwealth strap is on the line here as Bristol-based Nigerian Kejawa steps up. ‘Tosin’ has an 11-0 record with five knockouts, but it perhaps flatters him. At 23, it is hard to tell how good this kid really is. After all, only two of those 11 victims had winning records going in. It looks like this title shot might have come a touch too soon for Kejawa.

Kejawa has a tendency to get untidy with his work and try and force things with wild swings. When he is composed and measured, he looks dangerous. But sometimes ‘The Innocent Boy’ can leave himself open in pursuit of a quick victory that isn’t there. Some very average fighters have peppered him with punches during concerning moments in his bouts.

Edmondson can punch nicely in combination. The Azeez win was founded largely on pot-shots and distance fighting, but if Kejawa tries to go to war then ‘The Saint’ can match him in kind. Edmondson is a considered, cerebral fighter and that could stand him in good stead against an opponent whose most dangerous shots are often wide.

I expect this fight to be more action-packed than the Azeez outing. Kejawa likes to mix it up a bit more than ‘Super’ Dan. This should make for a fine fight given Edmondson’s tendency to match an opponent’s output in kind.

Lewis Edmondson vs Oluwatosin Kejawa - Bout Winner (3-Way) Edmondson to win

Odds correct at time of publishing.

What Edmondson must avoid is the “after the Lord Mayor’s show” effect. He is coming off a huge win that has propelled him into the world rankings. Before November, he had never fought above eight-round level. Now, the 29-year-old is the British and Commonwealth champion. His efforts are recognised with IBF and WBA placings.

Edmondson must keep his motivation despite all indicators suggesting he should win this fight comfortably. The only way he can secure further big fights is by retaining his Commonwealth strap against Kejawa. If Edmondson manages that, in impressive fashion no less, then a bout with one of Britain’s wealth of exciting, world-level light-heavies surely awaits.

Lewis Edmonson vs Oluwatosin Kejawa Prediction

Edmondson is no knockout artist. But the styles-match here makes me think he could get a rare stoppage. The more desperate Kejawa gets in his fights, the more ragged his work becomes. I believe the sharper Edmondson can exploit that and land the finishing blows.

I’m taking the champion to retain his title and win at 1/12.
