Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Predictions: Top shelf rematch is real main event

Katie Taylor defends her undisputed super lightweight championship against Amanda Serrano this Friday, November 15. The blockbuster rematch takes place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The title 10-rounder takes place as chief support for Mike Tyson’s ring return against Jake Paul. Netflix will broadcast the event live to subscribers worldwide.
Here are my Taylor vs Serrano predictions ahead of this high-class match-up.
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Betting Tips
Make no mistake about it, there is only one main event on Friday night for the discerning boxing fans. While a 58-year-old legend and a 28-year-old novice play out eight rounds of pantomime in the headline slot, Taylor and Serrano will be holding it down for the boxing traditionalists.
These two superstars gave us the 10 most scintillating rounds of 2022 when they headlined Madison Square Garden for the undisputed title down at lightweight. Taylor won a hotly-contested split decision. Fans were divided on who won but there was no real controversy. You simply could have made an argument for either athlete’s brilliance on the night.
The one element of the fight everyone could agree on was the need for a rematch. Such was the appetite to see Taylor and Serrano run it back, it is strange that it has taken this long. Over two-and-a-half years have elapsed since that scintillating first fight. This rematch has lost none of its lustre, but it does find the boxers in different places career-wise.
Taylor followed up the victory with a successful undisputed title defence against Karen Carbajal. Then the Irish legend moved up to the super lightweight division to challenge four-belt queen Chantelle Cameron. A bruising encounter unfolded, with the champion having too much strength and guile for the favourite. Cameron’s had was raised via a deserved majority decision.
Taylor rematched Cameron, setting the record straight and inflicting the first loss of the champion’s career. It was a superb, spirited display in another close fight. Taylor took the majority decision this time, and the four super lightweight belts. There remains talk of a score-settling third outing, but first Taylor must come through this Friday.
Serrano has truly blazed a trail since the Taylor defeat. A convincing win over Sarah Mahfoud saw ‘The Real Deal’ unify the undisputed featherweight title and become the first female The Ring champion at the weight. A brace of title defences followed before Serrano wrote a new chapter in boxing history.
Having campaigned for the right to do so for years, Serrano engaged in the first ever 12-round women’s world title fight. Despite the WBC withdrawing recognition from the bout, the Puerto Rican defended her WBA, IBF, WBO and The Ring straps against Danila Ramos with a unanimous decision win.
Serrano suggested this rematch with Taylor be fought over the same distance, but ‘KT’ rejected the idea. It is her prerogative as champion, having spent her career competing over 10-twos. But no matter the distance and no matter the dubious stage, with a hollow main event taking inexplicable precedence, this is a true fight to savour. A sequel to one of the most furious outings of recent years. Two great champions who will one day be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Despite the circumstances, it feels appropriate that this championship battle will reach a potentially-gigantic Netflix audience.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Betting Odds
This is a close one, reflective of their nip-and-tuck first outing. Taylor is 8/11 to win while Serrano is 6/5. The draw is priced at 12/1. Not a bad shout considering how open to interpretation their Madison Square Garden clash was.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Predictions
I look at the trajectory each fighter’s career has taken and it seems reductive to pick Serrano simply because Taylor has suffered a loss. But what Cameron provided was a roadmap on how to beat the Irish star.
Serrano came agonisingly close last time and she has looked untouchable since. With the extra gas in the tank from going 12-threes, I can see her outlasting Taylor over the distance. My pick is Serrano by decision at 11/5.
