Karriss Artingstall vs. Raven Chapman Fight Preview

This fight is a testament to the competitive spirit of these two boxers. Artingstall takes on the toughest challenge of her unbeaten career so far. Chapman lays her world class reputation on the line against one of the division’s dangerwomen. This is a great piece of matchmaking.

The Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist is taking a huge step-up in class here. Artingstall looks to announce herself at world level on Friday night.

Chapman has come close to the feted mountaintop. In her last outing, ‘The Omen’ went the distance with WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicholson. It was a historic night, with the fight being the first women’s world title bout ever to take place in Saudi Arabia. But unfortunately, Chapman’s luggage did not contain a championship belt on the way back from Riyadh.

It was the first defeat of a mightily impressive pro career for Chapman. She holds wins over former world champions like Linda Laura Lecca and Jorgelina Guanini. Chapman also snapped the unbeaten records of Yohania Sarabia and Lila Furtado. This is a woman to be feared.

Artingstall does not seem to have much truck for fear, though. You don’t medal at the Olympics, European and World Championships as an amateur if you’re easily intimidated. Artingstall will relish this.

A big fight has been a long time coming for the 30-year-old southpaw. A fight of any kind has been a long time coming too. This will be Artingstall’s first outing since January 2024, when she outpointed Lila dos Santos Furtado. After two bouts in 2022 after turning pro and a very active three in 2023, this lack of ring time will be uncomfortable for Artingstall.

Full credit to neither of these boxers taking a tune-up before this. Whether coming off a period of inactivity or bouncing back from a world title defeat, a lot of boxers would have taken a keep-busy fight before a bout of this magnitude. But Artingstall and Chapman are wasting little time and the fans will be the real winners of that decision.

Karriss Artingstall vs Raven Chapman - Method Of Victory Artingstall on Points

Odds correct at time of publishing.

This has the feeling of a crossroads fight despite the fact Artingstall is 30 while Chapman is only 31. A defeat for ‘The Omen’ would make it two in a row. You’d have to think there is no way back to a world title for Chapman after that.

Artingstall would perhaps get more grace from matchmakers. But for a fighter dead-set on making up for lost time, she will be no less desperate for a result in London. This fight is every bit as fascinating as the night’s main event. While it is not for world titles like Jonas-Price, it could be argued there is almost as much on the line.

Karriss Artingstall vs. Raven Chapman Prediction

I think Artingstall takes this. If she’s sharp, which is not guaranteed after a year away, then I think her best just about eclipses that of Chapman.

If she isn’t, then Chapman can pounce. For the first time in her pro career, Artingstall is dealing with an opponent who will be utterly convinced they have the beating of her. That necessitates a shift of mindset. But I think she is capable of that.

I am going to go for Artingstall on points here. It’ll be tough and I think it’ll be close. But I can see her having her hand raised by decision at 4/9.
