Cherneka Johnson makes the first defence of her undisputed bantamweight title this Friday, December 19 when she takes on Amanda Galle. ‘Sugar Neekz’ is 1/8 to win her maiden four-belt defence. Galle is priced at 6/1 or, if you prefer the draw, you can back the stalemate at 14/1.
Johnson vs Galle Fight Preview
Johnson ending her year in front of a potentially-huge Netflix audience feels appropriate given her 2025 success.
‘Sugar Neekz’ removed the doubt surrounding her 2024 WBA bantamweight title win over Nina Hughes, stopping the Brit in seven rounds March. The New Zealander then finished IBF counterpart Shuretta Metcalf in nine rounds in July, also claiming the vacant WBC and WBO belts to become undisputed bantamweight champion. That Madison Square Garden victory put Johnson into the elite bracket.
Johnson now prepares for her seventh consecutive world title fight. Before annexing Hughes’ WBA belt last year, the 30-year-old won the IBF super bantamweight title and made one successful defence before succumbing to Ellie Scotney at Wembley Arena in 2023.
While world title occasions are second nature to Johnson now, Galle is yet to compete for one of the four major world crowns. But the 36-year-old has passed every test so far. A former Canadian and IBO bantamweight champion, the unbeaten Galle is ready to step-up.
This fight was initially supposed to take place on the undercard of Paul’s cancelled exhibition bout with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis last month. But now the headliner has swapped out the under-sized ‘Tank’ for the heavyweight threat of Joshua, Johnson-Galle is set to be viewed by an even bigger global audience.

Johnson now has a win at the iconic MSG under her four belts, as she makes her second appearance outside Australia. Johnson represented the country as an amateur, having dual-nationality after moving Down Under as a child from neighbouring New Zealand.
Galle has fought just once outside her native Canada and never on such a high-profile stage. But every unbeaten fighter crosses the Rubicon at some point. On Friday, Galle faces her own point of no return. Sink or swim, with undisputed rewards on the line.

Johnson vs Galle Prediction
Johnson looks to have the tool-kit to emerge from this fight without too much trouble. She has the edge in power, experience and big-stage know-how. I’m picking Johnson to keep her run of stoppage wins going with a knockout at 12/5.
