Jesus Ramos vs Jeison Rosario Predictions: El Mono looks to start 2025 with a bang

World-ranked super welterweight Jesus Ramos takes on ex-unified champion Jeison Rosario this Saturday, February 1. The bout takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the undercard of David Benavidez vs David Morrell. Amazon Prime PPV will screen the fight live.
Here are my Ramos vs Rosario predictions ahead of this intriguing battle.
Jesus Ramos vs Jeison Rosario Betting Tips
Jesus Ramos vs Jeison Rosario Odds
Ramos is 1/20 here, unsurprising given Rosario’s recent struggles. Jeison starts at 8/1 while a draw can be backed at 20/1.
Fight Odds
This one has all the hallmarks of a crossroads fight. A former world champion without a win since July 2022 takes on a competitor who appears in multiple world top 10s. The latter comes in as a heavy favourite and we as boxing people feel like we know the score.
But what is unusual here is that Rosario, the aforementioned ex-champ, is only 29 years of age. From the outline above you’d expect a man of at least 35 hauling his body into battle when really he shouldn’t. But Rosario’s decline has come earlier than one would expect.
It should be said that his winless run is not as grave as it appears. Rosario has only fought twice since his last win. Once in a fifth-round knockout loss to the excellent Brian Mendoza later that same year. His only other outing was a draw with Jarrett Hurd in August of last year.
That fight with Hurd was his path back. Like Rosario, he was a fellow former IBF and WBA super welterweight champion. But Hurd is five years older and had lost three of his last four. For Rosario this represented a chance to get back on the ladder against a faded name.
But the pair fought to a draw that showed their decreased standing in the sport. Each man looked exhausted out there. A fight that was supposed to offer a way back ended up condemning both men to the status of gatekeeper.
It is that capacity in which Rosario appears on Saturday night. Firmly the B-side in a bout designed to establish the credentials of his opponent.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Ramos has those credentials, Boasting a 21-1 with 17 knockouts. The one area of concern is that loss, which came via decision against Erickson Lubin. His conqueror was a world class competitor who has fought for the WBC title. Lubin also holds a knockout win over Rosario. Perhaps that sixth-round stoppage will serve as the yardstick for Ramos’ own performance against the same foe.
Ramos was only out once in 2024, a ninth-round knockout win over Johan Gonzalez. Activity will be key this year as the 23-year-old looks to jockey for position. He has time on his side, but a big win over Rosario is crucial here.
Ramos deserves applause for taking the Lubin fight when he did. Going up against a world class opponent in your youth shows ambition. But now Ramos needs to be canny. The Lubin defeat was forgivable. Losing to Rosario or another lesser opponent is not.
This fight makes total sense from a career perspective. Despite his decline, Rosario would be the biggest name Ramos has beaten. This is a major chance for ‘El Mono’ to climb that ladder and start aiming for world title opportunities.

Jesus Ramos vs Jeison Rosario Prediction
I think this is the moment where Rosario’s ambitions as a top level fighter end. I can’t see past Ramos dominating this fight and securing a statement victory.
For this reason, I’m backing Ramos by knockout at 2/7. This is the youngster’s time and for Rosario, his time could be over.
