Harlem Eubank takes on Tyrone McKenna this Friday, March 7 at the Brighton Centre. The IBF intercontinental welterweight title will be on the line over 12 rounds of boxing. The bout will be screened live on Channel 5 with an undercard that features the return of Michael Conlan.

Here are my Eubank vs McKenna predictions ahead of this welter belter.

Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna Betting Tips

  • Eubank to win @ 2/9
  • Eubank by knockout @ 11/8

Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna Odds

Eubank is obviously out in front, a 2/9 favourite as we speak. McKenna is a live underdog at 7/2 considering his experience and superior level of competition. A draw can be backed at 12/1.

Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna Fight Preview

Harlem’s cousin, Chris Eubank Jr., dominated headlines last week when he cracked an egg over the head of rival Conor Benn. If our subject had hoped the Eubank name would help him gain increased media attention, it hasn’t worked on this particular occasion.

That is not to denigrate the talents of the 31-year-old in the slightest. But the Eubank family is a tough one to become a headline-grabber in. Between the peacocking icon that is Chris Eubank Sr. and the controversial but absorbing Eubank Jr., it is hard to make hay.

Ironically, considering Benn is moving up from this very division to fight Eubank Jr., Harlem might have been a better option for the Benn-Eubank redux everyone is waiting for. But while his cousin has competed at the very top, fighting for world titles and beating renowned names like James DeGale, Harlem has had a slower rise.

Starting late, Chris Jr. had already headlined arenas by the time Harlem Eubank turned pro. Now 31, he steps up in class as he edges towards realising his own title ambitions.

Eubank has beaten some fine domestic names. He knocked out the always-tough Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd in two rounds. Eubank holds wins over the likes of Tom Farrell and Ishmael Ellis. His standout victory came with an 11th round stoppage over Timo Schwarzkopf in November 2023.

McKenna would be another fine victory to hang his hat on. ‘The Mighty Celt’ is coming to the end at 35 but he has been a warrior over the years. He has beaten the likes of Darragh Foley, Jose Felix and Mohamed Mimoune in an impressive career.

Perhaps the best thing about McKenna is his willingness to fight absolutely anyone. There are few fighters who can point to Jack Catterall, Regis Prograis and Ohara Davies on their ledger. Fighting someone with that sort of broad, top-class experience is an important next step on Eubank’s journey.

Odds correct at time of publishing.

A name will only get you so far. A reputation of your own is forged through hard fights. This might not be as thorough a test as it would have been five years ago. But McKenna’s experience and savvy should at least give Eubank something to think about in Brighton.

Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna Prediction

Eubank is not a big knockout artist, with eight stoppages in his 20 wins. But these days you do not necessarily have to be Mike Tyson to get McKenna out of there. He lost his rematch with Mohamed Mimoune via TKO when the Frenchman had only knocked out four of his previous 23 victims.

I think Eubank is good enough to get McKenna out of there. I’m going for him to win by knockout at 11/8.
