Dubois brings youth, Harper brings experience to unification bout

Belts and bad blood are the order of the day this Sunday, April 5 as WBC lightweight queen Caroline Dubois faces WBO equivalent Terri Harper. The Olympia in Kensington, London will host the all-British unification scrap with Sky Sports Main Event screening the card live.
Read on for my Dubois vs Harper predictions ahead of this highly-anticipated rumble.
Dubois is leading the betting at 1/5 while Harper is priced at 4/1. The draw is marketed at 16/1.
Dubois vs Harper Fight Preview
Dubois debuts for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions here. Say what you will about ‘The Problem Child’, but he is serious about platforming women’s boxing. Along with an elite level unification main event, there are also spots on the card for Katie Taylor conqueror Chantelle Cameron, three-belt bantamweight queen Ellie Scotney and former world champion Shannon Courtenay.
The main event is an inspired piece of matchmaking. Dubois is British boxing’s danger woman. A lesser fighter would have laboured their way to moderate recognition as the sibling of former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. But Caroline has paved her own way with supreme focus and uncommon power.
Harper has been written off more often than Bruce Wayne’s parents. But ‘Belter’ upset the applecart in late 2024, annexing the WBO lightweight belt from Rhiannon Dixon. Harper followed that victory up with a dominant win over undefeated Natalie Zimmerman at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster last year.
Harper’s tale is an inspirational one. The Yorkshire lass has been stopped twice, but each time she has roared back to claim more world glory.
Alycia Baumgardner enjoyed her breakout moment when she stunned and expectant Sheffield crowd to finish Harper in four rounds back in 2021. Terri lost her WBC super featherweight title on the night, with ‘The Bomb’ going on to become undisputed champion and a true superstar in boxing.
Harper regrouped and picked up the WBA super welterweight title by upending ‘The Classical Warrior’ Hannah Rankin. A quality win over Ivana Habazin and a tough draw with the iconic Cecilia Braekhus gave way to another fourth-round stoppage defeat. WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan was the beneficiary this time, with Harper being forced to withdraw on her stool.
Which led to Harper being viewed by many as a faded foe when she battled popular WBO lightweight champion Dixon. But Harper had too much skill and savvy for Dixon, who lost her belt to ‘Belter’ via unanimous decision.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
By contrast, Dubois is undefeated as a professional. Until last year you could argue she was untested. But at the Albert Hall on BOXXER’s historic all-female event, she was given a thorough test against Bo Mi Re Shin. The Korean, who fights Baumgardner later this month, was a puzzle that Dubois struggled to figure out. For the first time in her nine-fight career, Dubois was taken to the brink of defeat.
The online age means that boxers who come through a tougher-than-expected test are derided rather than celebrated. Which is nonsense if you think about it. There is more to be said about a fighter narrowly beating an opponent who has tested them than a boxer blasting out someone who is levels beneath them in skill and will. Dubois didn’t look her best, but she fought hard and won.
Dubois’ last fight was more routine. A wide points win over Camilla Panatta underlined everything we knew about Dubois. She hits harder than a lot of her peers and she backs it up with a fine toolkit of technical abilities.
What Dubois lacks and Harper boasts in abundance is world class experience. Terri has been in with some of the best boxers of her era. She is one of the best boxers of her era. Because when she has lost, ‘Belter’ has dusted herself off and found world class form once again. Now that momentum is tested against one of the sport’s most dangerous young fighters. Game on.

Dubois vs Harper Prediction
Harper can be stopped, as Ryan and Baumgardner have proven. It would be a huge statement from Dubois if she can get the finish here.
I think Dubois will win, however it comes. She’s fresher and stronger. Harper will ask questions early but I reckon Caroline wears her down for a win at 1/5.
