Collazo vs Haro Predictions: Replacement opponent in the eye of the storm

Oscar Collazo defends his WBO, WBA and The Ring strawweight titles this Saturday, March 14 (DAZN) against Jesus Haro. The fight takes place on the undercard of Arnold Barboza Jr vs Kenneth Sims Jr. The card emanates from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Keep reading for my Collazo vs Haro predictions ahead of this world title attraction.
The champion is a mammoth 1/33 favourite while his challenger is 14/1. The draw is 20/1 if you fancy the stalemate.
Collazo vs Haro Fight Preview
Collazo is a victim of his own success. The consensus best at mini-flyweight, the WBO/WBA/The Ring kingpin has been taken the distance just once in seven world title fights. Vic Saludar had him down in an eliminator in 2020 and Collazo still beat him widely on points.
Collazo holds a seventh-round stoppage win over current WBC strawweight champion Melvin Jerusalem. He is the only man to beat the legendary Knockout CP Freshmart, finishing the icon with another seventh-round TKO. The former Thai boxing champion is now the WBC champion up at light flyweight.
So what is there left to accomplish for Collazo at 105lbs? Well few people had Jesus Haro on the champ’s to-do list. Oscar had been set to contest a rematch with Jerusalem in a bid to unify his titles with the WBC belt. But after his ex-victim’s withdrawal, Haro got the nod.
Still only 23 years of age, California’s ‘Chiquito’ Haro is 13-3 and looks a little undercooked for this one. Haro has only had one previous 12-round fight; a unanimous points loss to ex-WBO champion Wilfredo Mendez. Haro has also lost to Gustavo Perez Alvarez, who contests the IBF belt next month, and 0-1 Jonathan Pinedo Castaneda on his debut.
But sometimes fighters pull out of cards and their opponents are left at a loose end. Somebody had to step up and Haro did. Unfortunately, the young challenger is running up on one of the pound-for-pound best fighters on the planet.
When will Collazo’s position among the best be a consensus rather than a fringe opinion? When the 105lbs division produces someone who can touch ‘El Pupilo’. Or when Collazo chances his arm at a higher weight. Very good fighters are sometimes separated from truly great ones by their circumstances, rather than their ability.
Odds correct at time of publishing.

Collazo vs Haro Prediction
I expect nothing short of a rout here. Collazo is too good in every department for his opponent. This fight has come too early for Haro. One hopes he learns from it, rather than finding himself broken by it. Collazo to win at 1/33.
