Bravo vs Campa Predictions: Beaten Nestor knocks on the gate once again

Puerto Rico’s Nestor Bravo takes on gatekeeper Pedro Campa this Saturday, January 10. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will play host to the fight as part of the Subriel Matias vs Dalton Smith undercard. PPV.com will carry the broadcast live.
Read on for my Bravo vs Campa predictions ahead of this 140lbs scrap.
Campa is the underdog at 11/2, a role he often plays in high-profile company. Bravo is a healthy 1/7 to get the job done while the draw is priced at 16/1.
Bravo vs Campa Fight Preview
Bravo is looking to right the ship after losing a 10-round decision to faded former contender last time out Xolisani Ndongeni. The South Africans days of taking Devin Haney and Raymond Muratalla the distance are behind him. Since beating Bravo in an upset last March, Ndongeni has been knocked out in nine and then two rounds by unbeaten prospects.
A poor result on reflection for Bravo, who suffered the first defeat of his career at the hands of ‘Nomeva The Wasp’. That fight against a declining name was supposed to be a springboard to bigger things last year. Instead, Bravo took the rest of the year off and returns here against an opponent with a similar profile to his conqueror.
Campa is part of the same veteran circuit as Ndongeni. He is the man you call if you need a recognisable face to punch. Current WBO, The Ring and lineal super lightweight champ took great glee in doing just that for seven rounds back in 2022. Unbeaten prospect Brandun Lee (not the one from The Crow) outpointed him the following year.
There have been decent wins in there for Campa, such as a third-round knockout of a then-unbeaten Carlos Sanchez and a recent points win over Alex Martin. But it feels like Pedro is slipping into gatekeeper status.
Bravo will be hoping so, having been burned by a supposed stepping stone fight last time out. The proud Puerto Rican needs to kickstart his year with an impressive victory over a man who has been stopped three times in four defeats.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Before the Ndongeni shock, Bravo had destroyed Carlos Manuel Portillo in two rounds. That result flattered to deceive, given the fact Portillo was coming off a first-round defeat to Ernesto Mercado and has been knocked out in two of his three outings since. But that is not to say Bravo cannot hit. The 32-year-old has 16 KOs in his 23 victories, albeit few of the names stand out.
Ultimately, Bravo is the fighter with the pressure on. A second consecutive loss at this stage would permanently put a ceiling on his hopes and ambitions. He is the better fighter on paper, but Campa has boxed the finer opposition. This could be a real litmus test for the Puerto Rican.

Bravo vs Campa Prediction
Bravo should have enough to do the job here. Campa is capable but if the favourite turns up in better fettle than he did against Ndongeni then it won’t be enough. I’m backing Bravo to win at 1/7.
