Simpson vs Williamson Odds

Simpson is a 1/7 favourite to take the win here. Williamson is well-versed in the art of the underdog. Such a victory for Troy here is 5/1. The draw is priced at 16/1.

Simpson vs Williamson Fight Preview

Simpson has had a bumper 2025 already, and he may well have saved the best fight for last. The likeable Barnsley lad started his year with a second-round knockout of dangerman Steed Woodall. The Brummie had beaten world-ranked Lerrone Richards, and many expected him to give Simpson trouble. But the champion defended his British and Commonwealth straps with brutal efficiency.

Simpson followed that up in March with a fifth-round stoppage of the always-entertaining Elvis Ahorgah. The Ghanaian calls himself ‘Soldier’, and he dragged Simpson into a war. But the Barnsley boy triumphed against a game opponent

Next up was a return to Simpson’s beloved Oakwell Stadium. He had packed the ground to the tune of 7,000 fans last time in a win over Zak Chelli. Simpson had more belts on his mind upon his June return, with Ivan Zucco in the opposite corner. The vacant European super middleweight title was on the line with 15,000 through the gates of the home of Barnsley FC.

It was supposed to be a coronation, and it was. Simpson finished his man spectacularly in the 10th round. But not before tasting the canvas himself in a dramatic first and shocking third round. The punishing bout was a true thriller under the stadium lights. Simpson emerged with the European belt, completing a regional British, Commonwealth and EBU trio that fighters often use as a foundation to chase world titles.

Simpson has been clear on his world-level ambitions in the past. He has even tried to talk the great Saul Canelo Alvarez into Oakwell in the past. But before he can chase one of the four world belts recently vacated by Canelo’s conqueror, Terence Crawford, he must deal with an opponent who does not know the meaning of the word ‘quit’.

Callum Simpson vs Troy Williamson - Round Group Betting
Callum Simpson Rounds 7-9

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Williamson has been written off more than a well-used stock car, but once again, his mighty fists have delivered him from the evil of obscurity. There were no expectations when he fought Mark Dickinson. New at the weight, having tasted most of his success 14lbs below at super welterweight, Williamson proved that he is a warrior who cannot be contained, no matter the division. The underdog scored a ninth-round knockout to lift the English super middleweight title.

Williamson answering this call so close to Christmas surely brought a rippled sigh among Britain’s more fan-friendly fighters. After all, it is very rare for Williamson not to be one-half of the Fight of the Year. Maybe next year, eh lads?

It is a brave choice from Simpson, this fight. Williamson brings the fire into every bout, and four losses in his last five fights before Dickinson doesn't tell the whole story. Troy lost to Josh Kelly, who is fighting for a world title next year, world-ranked Caoimhin Agyarko, the then-unbeaten Ishmael Davis and fringe contender Jahi Tucker.

Williamson recalibrated and moved up to super middleweight. Perceived as a mere ‘opponent’ for Dickinson, he sprung a spectacular surprise. Now the ‘Trojan’ looks to do it all over again against the British, Commonwealth and European 168-pound champion.

Simpson vs Williamson Prediction

This will be a tear-up; there is no question about that. Williamson never takes a backward step, while Simpson is a front-foot fighter through and through. Simpson is taller and has longer reach, so he could turn this into a boxing match if he wants to. But the Barnsley boy usually fights like the only way out is physically going through his opponent.

I think it’ll be fast, furious and exciting. I also think that, as the fight goes on, Simpson will get the better of the action. I’m picking the triple-champ to do the job in rounds 7-9 at 10/3.
