Bank vs Scull Odds

Scull is priced at 4/6 while the local boy is on the market at 13/10. Bank should see some decent backing given the fact the fight is in his home country, which could tip the balance closer to bell time. The draw is up at 16/1.

Bank vs Scull Fight Preview

When he took to the ring last May to face Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in an undisputed 168lbs title unification, Scull must have felt the adrenaline rush that comes with participating in one of the sport’s biggest occasions. A four-belt affair against the biggest star in boxing? These are the fights you spend years agonising in the gym and pounding the tarmac for. A culmination and a reward.

Rewarding Scull was the furthest thing from anyone’s mind when the Cuban had limply relinquished his IBF crown to Canelo in 12 of the most mind-numbing rounds of boxing we saw in 2025. A somnambulic circus of negativity; Scull’s gameplan was simply to run away from the Mexican for 12 rounds. Survival of the meekest stripe.

Every single person who steps through the ropes of a boxing ring to compete is brave. I would never accuse a fighter of outright cowardice because they put themselves through tribulations that would turn us mere mortals to dust. But Scull did not fight in Riyadh last May. He merely ran. A crying shame and a poor way to watch a shot at immortality slip through your fingers.

Admittedly, Alvarez could also have done more. Far more. After all, this fight saw the least punches thrown in a 12-round fight since Compubox records began in 1985.

But at the same time, the calm and controlled Canelo was not going to risk walking onto something against a foe blatantly only looking for a Hail Mary shot. The difference is Canelo has been involved in more than a few classic fights where he proved he is anything but risk averse. Meanwhile, this was the mainstream world’s first real look at Scull. Nobody has clamoured for a second look.

Which is probably why a man who was a world champion just seven months ago is having to travel to his opponent’s home country as the B-side for this fight. The gamble is probably worth it given Bank’s status as WBO Global champion. A daft belt because “Global” means the same as “Worldwide” and Banks is not the world champion by any stretch of the imagination. But handy because it guarantees the holder a solid world ranking with the WBO.

Bank is currently ranked fourth by the organisation. It is a plum position given the state of affairs in the WBO rankings.

Terence Crawford, who defeated Canelo for the undisputed crown, vacated the title upon his recent retirement. Canelo himself is ranked as the number-one contender, but he is in the same slot for the WBC and WBA too. Should he choose one of these outlets, second-placed Hamzah Sheeraz and Diego Pacheco, who sits third, are expected to fight for the vacant WBO belt. That would make the winner of Bank-Scull the de facto number one contender once the vacancy is filled.

Is Bank a world champion in the making? He is certainly doing well for a fighter of just 24 years of age. A fifth-round stoppage over former WBA super middleweight champion Tyron Zeuge last time out punched his ticket to this fight. Bank is light on his feet and quick with his hands. He lacks power, with just nine stoppages in 17 victories. But Scull is not the sort of fighter to punish that, I don’t think.

Instead, I can see a tactical battle taking place. It might not be pretty, but then no fan who sat through the Canelo abomination is sticking this on expecting Gatti-Ward IV. Instead, you’re going to see a bright, energetic prospect tasked with solving a human puzzle box. Like Hellraiser, but probably not as good.

Bank vs Scull Prediction

This is a real test of Bank’s credentials. I like what I have seen of him, but Scull is a rotten foe if looking good is the aim. Either the Dane will learn invaluable lessons from ‘El Indomable’ or he will get sucked into the lumpen vortex that claimed an offcut of Canelo’s reputation.

I think Scull knows too much at this stage of the respective careers of these men. Bank bounces in and out with plenty of verve, but I don’t think many of those rapid-fire shots are finding a home on the wily Cuban. I can see Scull frustrating Bank and counter-punching him on the way to an away win at 4/6.
