Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets Predictions: ‘The Assassin’ levels up in London

Adam Azim takes on former world champion Sergey Lipinets this Saturday, February 1 at the OVO Arena in Wembley. This capital collision will be screened live on Sky Sports. The vacant IBO super lightweight title will be on the line in his main event match-up.
Here are my Azim vs Lipinets predictions ahead of this pivotal fight for both.
Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets Betting Tips
Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets Odds
Azim is 1/8 to beat the best opponent of his young career so far. The wily Lipinets is 11/2 to spring the surprise in London. A draw between the super lightweight pair is 20/1.
Fight Preview
We witnessed the graduation of the gifted Azim in his last outing. The 22-year-old dominated Ohara Davies, knocking the seasoned campaigner out in eight rounds. It was a breakout display from a fighter many are tipping for superstardom.
Azim seemed to be bowing out from domestic level boxing with the Davies victory. His opponent had been a flagbearer and a yardstick on the British scene. Having beaten Davies, the Slough man is ready to try and take on the world.
Lipinets is the launchpad for an assault on world honours. The Kazakhstani has been to the mountaintop and has mixed with some of the very best in the game. Experience like that is invaluable and spending ring time trying to overcome someone who has been in with elite fighters will be incredible for Azim.
That’s not to say this is a glorified spar. Far from it. While engaging Lipinets will teach many life lessons to a young fighter, the 35-year-old remains a threat. Just ask Liverpool’s Robbie Davies Jr, who Lipinets outpointed in his last fight.
World-ranked Michel Rivera, who outscored Lipinets in November 2023, is the only fighter outside the Hall of Fame-bound Garcia and current IBF welterweight kingpin Ennis to beat him. Lipinets might be a betting underdog, but if Azim beats him he will find himself in esteemed company.
Azim can do it based on what we’ve seen. Slick but destructive, he has added power to the technique that saw him scoop 10 national titles and rise to become the number-one ranked welterweight youth amateur in the world. The swift counters, often teased with the double jab, now have significant granite behind them.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
At 5’11, Azim is rangy and can box elegantly from distance. But if he senses weakness he can walk an opponent down with the best of them. Azim truly excels when an opponent tries to take the fight to him. The youngster uses head movement and check hooks to put his opponents where he wants them before lowering the boom. Strategy and strength have combined to compose a veritable highlight-reel of finishes.
Can Azim add to his showreel this Saturday? He certainly looks capable of doing so. Lipinets’ only stoppage loss came to ‘Boots’ Ennis, a fighter many are tipping for pound-for-pound stardom. If Slough’s super lightweight star can pull off something similar, his ceiling moves higher than ever.

Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets Prediction
Fights like this are designed to teach. To give the hot prospect rounds and let them grow accustomed to a higher level. Lipinets is a former world champion while Azim is a future one. This is an educational passing of the torch.
I think Azim will wrench the torch from his opponent’s grasp with both hands. I’m going for the young Brit by knockout in this one at odds of 8/15. Let the Azim era commence.
